Pros

The pay is (somewhat) competitive for the Triad area, as are the benefits. There are SOME good, trustworthy people that make great co-workers.

Cons

Diagnostic Imaging dept. is, unfortunately, a mess. Unless you're "friends" with upper management and/or chosen by them for whatever particular reason, I've seen people who've served reliably and faithfully for years shut out and shut down when going for a promotion or even attempting to make a lateral move from one Imaging modality to another, myself included. I was effectively blocked out of another modality, after I spent a year of hard work and sacrifice to get certified in that modality. They actually hired a classmate of mine, who had no previous healthcare background, over me who'd been there for years, problem free, good performance reviews, no disciplinary action, excellent attendance record, etc., because the manager of that dept. personally didn't like me. Same thing when I tried to make a shift change; supervisor played favorites with who he wanted on his shift & upper management let him. Problem is, Cone is SOOO large everybody knows somebody there & they control half the Triad so if you get labeled negatively in any way whatsoever, you're career is seriously impacted.

Pros

I felt that my background in psychology helped me relate to the patients and helped advocate for their care when most staff were more concerned about the excitement of trauma and the adrenaline rush. I felt I was able to use my psy knowledge to collaborate with the physicians and help deescalation interventions before jumping into pharmacological and physical restraints

Cons

I found my suggestions often overlooked in these trauma and stressful situations and frequently became discouraged and often reprimanded for "catering" to these patients who deserve the same quality of care. I often found myself in the office for complaints from my co-workers who did not agree with my nursing care for these patients who deserve our equal services

Pros

Multiple sites to work-just get your foot in the door and you can transfer later Major of the staff are great team players Company supports various Charity Groups Expect employees to own ,accept and fix mistakes[ yes ,this a good thing]

Cons

Policies are not always follow Some older employees are not valved{ Very Good,Great work history not taken into account] Document everything. After being fired ,they are so large it is hard to find a job in a Speciality Area You can be fired by people you never worked with that don't knowledge in your area and co-workers or peers are not interviewed. .
