Pros

- Started out with a great and honest mission. -Success stories from the field are truly inspiring. - Most of the staff are loyal and mission-driven. They are doing the best they can with little resources they have. - Free access to the gym. - Deli on sight is good, office is close to shopping/and food venues.

Cons

Working at Coptic Orphans has been one of the most mentally and emotionally exhausting experiences I've ever had. The company is running on a 'roll of the dice' philosophy more than actual values and a clear vision. Even though the organization started out with a noble cause in mind, I fear that its leader has lost sight of what is important and continues to change strategies on a whim to accommodate impulsive ideas. There are no solid guiding principles for the company or its management. Top-down communication is a common practice, which has created an inefficient and unreliable conveyance--a lot of unnecessary red tape. Team members are misguided and manipulated by management, which has created an unproductive, and toxic work environment for the staff. When I came onboard, I was very poorly treated by my manager and to some extent by some employees. I later understood this was simply a byproduct of terrible trickle down management and poor communication, or lack thereof, between top management and everyone else. Their values are misplaced and they don't know/don't care about rewarding their employees for their hard work, instead they punish and overwork them until they are left feeling miserable and exploited--faith-based? I think not! Generally speaking: - Low morale - Management is dishonest - HR is inefficient and useless - Overall a hot-mess - Cheap employer in every sense of the word--taking your team out for a 'work lunch' and asking them to pick up the tab is very tacky and unacceptable!

Pros

- Your work- in any position at CO- influence lives of thousands of orphans! - Fair pay comparing with other NGOs in DC area. - No limit for your growth! - The ED, encourage and support creativity.

Cons

I left the org a few years ago! All what I have in my mind is the pros, I cant recall any cons, however realistically any work place has both the Pros & Cons, if it is meant to be yours it is your decision to enjoy the pros, and deal with the cons
