I worked at Currys PC World part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

the hourly wage is a bit low, bonuses are reasonable
    hours are not too long

    Cons

targets sometimes are hard to meet

    Pros

Pretty decent; especially since it was used as work experience so i got to learn quite a bit about retail

    Cons

Since it was work experience, there wasn't much for me to do on the first day and... yeah, i just ended up cleaning much of the time.

I have been working at Currys PC World part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I started in a temporary role over peak, was kept on after peak, but at reduced hours due to budget cut.
Good bonus schemes, good training provided, social workplace, store management transparent with sales colleagues.

    Cons

Sometimes too much of a push from management to hit KPIs

I worked at Currys PC World part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - work itself isn't difficult
    - management rarely got involved with the knowhow section since they aren't tech savvy (this actually helps getting your repairs done since nobody breathes down your neck all the time)

    Cons

    - managers are out of touch with customers and only think of them as bags of money
    - KPI's and daily targets are almost designed to never expect a rainy day
    - some management in my experience don't know much about the technology they sell apart from marketing bullet points
    - even if you're not on the shop floor as sales, you still have sales targets like everyone else

I worked at Currys PC World part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

good benefits. Decent staff. Minimum wage rate

    Cons

Could employee more staff as it seemed understaffed at all times. Can get pretty monotonous. Will need to push add-ons down customers throats in order to keep the job no matter how immoral it is to do so.

    Advice to Management

    be more relaxed and friendly.

I have been working at Currys PC World full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Building and retaining genuine clientele in a very fast, forever changing market surrounded by competition. Very good for building an understanding of the business world. Many conversations with established business owners - good advice. Great colleagues, fair pay - with the potential of quite a nice bonus if targets are hit. Supportive managers are also a big bonus, keeping up to date with technology is also good fun. Weekends off, 8:45 - 5:15 Mon - Fri.

    Cons

Lunch breaks (half an hour unpaid)
    Occasional unreasonable targets
Pressure to sell attachments that business customers do NOT want or need, in a lot of cases.

    Advice to Management

    Be supportive
Appreciate some customers just do not want the add on's (I do however fully appreciate the trickle effect, they're only doing what there boss has asked)
Show interest in the individual as a person

I worked at Currys PC World full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for and it is surprising how much you have learnt during your time there. When you go to other companies you then realise how much time and effort is put into training and development of the managers and how well you have been taught to adapt to change.
You are left to manage with guidance from your regional and it is very much a trust process. As always it is down to who is managing you and I was lucky enough to have John Fitzgibbon who despite me not getting what I wanted I could appreciate how good he is at his role.

    Cons

Not all managers (both regional and store) are supportive and have their own agenda.

I worked at Currys PC World full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The people you worked with

    Cons

Long hours leaving the yard at 7am and not getting back until late rude customers purchasing items that wouldn’t physically get through the front door but customers advised by store staff the delivery team can do it no problem the customer and in store staff don’t realise some of the properties customers would want you to place a big American fridge freezer and yet us the delivery team would get spoken to like we don’t know what we are talking about ie telling us to unbox it carry it up a flight of stairs at the side of the property in the dark to as which my reply was if we dropped it or knocked it then it would be classed as damaged and then we would have to carry it back down and take it back

Also some lazy staff members failing jobs for no apparent reason other than not wanting to spend too much time on one customer but this is partly due to the company’s structure on booking too many installs on one particular van in one day some would be easy to do then others could be a nightmare and then you would end up spending longer explaining to the customer that we are not plumbers and nothing we can do if the water valve has seized

    Advice to Management

More advice to customers before purchasing American fridge freezers
