I have been working at Currys PC World part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    People are really friendly.
You can learn a lot about technology.

    Cons

You get pressured from management to meet sales target.
You do have to lie a lot.

    Advice to Management

Let the sales people sale "flat", Currys would probably make more money this way. I've seen a lot of the time customers are turned away (told product is not in store although it is) because they do not want to buy any add-ons.

I worked at Currys PC World part-time

    Pros

10% discount, paid holiday and colleagues were always happy and friendly.

    Cons

Never appreciated for the hard work I put in, store manager didnt even know my name for half the time I was there. Every day was started by being moaned at for not reaching a target and I felt like i was ripping off customers with all the "deals and discounts" that we would throw at certain customers to help reach those targets. It was almost unfair as some customers got more dicount then others. Weren't helpful with work/life balance as I was a college student the long shifts of start till close on both Saturday and Sunday and some evenings meant I often had to do all my college coursework late into the night.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on helping customers rather than reaching targets.

I have been working at Currys PC World full-time

    Pros

Reasonable atmosphere and discount scheme, flexible hours. Get to use tech and learn about equipment, useful knowledge.

    Cons

Low wages, bonus can be unachievable regardless of your effort, little chance of promotion. Some stores have bullies and turnover of staff can be high.

    Advice to Management

    Pay staff more.

I worked at Currys PC World part-time

    Pros

Small staff discounts at PC world, good staff discounts at Carphone warehouse. Can be accommodating of personal circumstance.

    Cons

Part time contract but timetabled in for Full time hours. Expect colleagues to not interact, affects team morale and consequent service.
Lack of any real training and avoided promised reimbursement of travel expenditure to attend mandatory company "training" (claimed paperwork was sent only after multiple asks, ultimately did not receive the money). Some members not receiving the initial training for months - is considered surprising if received before start date. Generally disorganised in all areas. Tough targets and KPIs, sales are more important that customer satisfaction - often leads to unethical practices.

    Advice to Management

Clearly set out expectations and work hours in the contract, workers will be more inclined to commit to the role/company. Better recognise the effort and achievement of said workers. Allow colleagues to interact and enjoy the work environment, and you will reap the rewards. Treat customers as customers, not walking ATMs. Customer service and satisfaction is a priority, not just a bonus qualifier.

I worked at Currys PC World full-time

    Pros

    - excellent product training direct from manufacturers, both in-store and online. I've had training with sonos, BT, gopro, now tv, fitbit, Intel and Microsoft.
    - really friendly people
    - good coaching from experienced colleagues
    - most feedback from managers is helpful and constructive
    - plenty of hours available to work

    Cons

    - management can be passive aggressive and unreasonable
    - too many targets to hit for little benefit
    - stock is awful
    - computer systems are slow and embarrassing
    - overly complex business system
    - can be given too many hours, 39hrs each week for multiple weeks can be a struggle

    Advice to Management

    Practice what you preach.
