      Cons

We all have the odd bad day, but apart from that nothing really.

      Pros

Great progression opportunities. The money is good. The people are fun to work with - we have a balance between hard work and having a laugh. Training opportunities - I have been promoted over the last 6 months and am starting a formal course to provide leadership training. They are a company that cares about their people - I have just completed a Mental Health first aid course.

      Cons

Peak periods are fast paced and challenging. Job security.

      Pros

The money is great and the benefits package compliments well. (Lifestyles, Pensions, Sharesave, Company car, Life Insurance, Gym Discounts). Fantastic career progression - dependent on attitude and work ethic you can make your career into anything. I started as a Salesperson and worked through to a managerial role. One of the best things is the people and the balance between hard work and having fun!

      Cons

During peak periods the days and hours can be tough - and to get a great work life balance, it takes some planning. The peaks & troughs can take some getting used to.

      Pros

Fantastic career progression, I've been with DFS 17 years and have worked on the shop floor, Supervisory roles, and now Managerial. The training opportunities to support this development have been great as well - such as Leadership courses, Insights courses, Higher Apprenticeship qualifications, and loads of others. There is also a large support network when you need it from Senior Managers & Directors to Group Support Center. The company values really define where we are heading - and assist in decision making. Our people and teams are also brilliant - we have a balance of fun and hard work which makes it enjoyable coming to work. The environment is healthy and comfortable. The money is fantastic as well!!

      Cons

In peak periods the pace can be intense - you get used to it and then enjoy it but it can be manic at times.

      Pros

Real flexible working allowing me to fit work and my family really well. Loads of opportunities for career moves. Secure company (in retail that is rare!!) The people are great - balance hard work and fun!!

      Cons

Benefits could be better. Would rather recruit external than train and develop.

Good job, but be up for a challenge!

      Pros

Good job, but be up for a challenge! Furniture is heavy, doesn’t always go in easily and some people live on top floor flats! Cracking job but please bear it in mind that some nights you will have to work a bit late and it is HARD work. Good money, plenty overtime, generally finish on time, 2 day weekends every week (sat-sun and sun-mon rotating), good bonus scheme, good trucks and kit

      Cons

Sometimes work with agency staff who are poorly trained, although in my experience they often surprise me once they have been shown the job, sometimes have to work late, heavy job, some of these sofas can weigh up to 80kg, sometimes have to load own vehicles

Great company for rewarding hard work and ambition.

      Pros

Comprehensive training. Hard work is rewarded. Always a good support network when you have questions. For retail a company they are very loyal with a low staff turnover.

      Cons

Long hours and weekends. Office staff should be paid and rewarded better for their hard work. The added value expectations of sales people is too high. Customer service is sometimes compromised because of the difficulty of handling return stock.
