I worked at Daily Mail and General Trust full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Learned a lot from really smart, talented people. Trusted early on with a large project. Managers were great (apart from one, who no longer works there)

    Cons

The salary is a bit low. Someone might be on £18k, while someone in a similar position might be £38k. I get that some are more experienced but maybe promote them to a senior member 9f staff. Some staff openly state they don't want to share information, as they'll lose value in the company and face no repercussions. You shouldn't hire people that aren't team players.

    Advice to Management

Reward people that go above and beyond and recognise the hard workers. Notice who don't put in much work and think about getting rid of toxic people.

I worked at Daily Mail and General Trust full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

Very friendly place to work - everyone very nice. On site free gym and occupational health. Wide range of training courses. Great overall office location on High st Kensington.

      Cons

Some lack of communication. The onsite canteen is nice but not very subsidised. Rules on things like flexible working and work/life balance could be more unified across the business as there seems to be a lot of disparity from department to department.

      Negative Outlook

I worked at Daily Mail and General Trust full-time for more than a year

      Pros

The nightshit position was challenging but allowed for flexibility due to the working pattern - 14 consecutive nights working, then 14 consecutive days off. It's challenging but allows time for other pursuits. Not workable long-term.

      Cons

Nightshift is extremely challenging, and the monetary rewards are negligible. Nightshift team is hugely undervalued and the general ethos at the company is to squeeze as much out of staff as you can without giving anything back. Awful morale.

      Advice to Management

Value your staff more, pay more for nightshift as the sacrifices staff make to make that role work are considerable.

I have been working at Daily Mail and General Trust full-time

        Pros

Good benefits of working here. If you work late or early there are paid for cabs.

        Cons

Such a big company. Can very occassionally feel like you are lost among the masses.

        Advice to Management

Pay reviews should be more often. Sometimes rescheduled shifts should have more warning. Holiday days should not have to be booked three months in advance as a company rule.
