I worked at Day Lewis full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

My branch was very well staffed. The management was supportive. I was given the opportunity to do more than just my normal job. Yeah the pressure for services are there. But there is no threat of disclipinary procedure. Day Lewis would rather work with you to find out what is inhibiting you on providing these services. I miss working for Day Lewis.

    Cons

They can be a bit too lenient with staffing. I had issues with certain staff members and it took a lot for some action.

I worked at Day Lewis full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Open and receptive to new ideas. Do offer good offer some training opportunities. Flat management structure so dealing with director level regularly. Nice colleagues (long suffering)

    Cons

Directors/ Owners of the firm very difficult to work for - controlling and complete lack of resources proved to staff. Firm and certainly the retail side appears to be run down - will the company be around in 5 years am not sure? You cannot trust the owners - who claim they run an open caring family business but it is all faked to inspire loyalty. The family is very much about the bottom line would stab their... own uncle in the back! Run by accountants who do not give a hoot about company values which stand proudly on the wall- not a nice culture. Short term decision making - no investment in shops, systematically plan to pay minimal staff wages - pretend to care and increase wages but it doesn't happen. High turnover leads to increased pressure on existing staff - last one left at head office to switch off lights!

    Advice to Management

Stop always looking for short cuts - if you want to create a sustainable workplace trust your staff more and give them manageable workloads. Resource your teams properly comply with the law and apply company values to your decision making. Company culture has changed significantly over the past few years - at least be open about it and not fake !

I worked at Day Lewis part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Sometimes get a box of chocolate or free ice cream. The annual conference is a good event to go to

    Cons

Badly managed company, seems like the problems you face in their pharmacies are not listened to and you are not given any help, customers get angry with the service then take it out on the staff.

    Advice to Management

Listen to suggestions from the branches and help when they need it or you will lose more and more staff

I worked at Day Lewis full-time for less than a year

    Pros

A really generous, family oriented company to work for. Everyone is valued and isn’t just a ‘number’ which is hard to find these days. Nice Christmas bonus’. Annual Day Lewis confrence in London. Career pathway progression. Good management who listen. Monday to Friday work pattern. Weekends off.

    Cons

Some branches have very nasty staff with poor attitudes who are very cliquey.

    Advice to Management

Discipline for unprofessional staff who are not only rude in general but to customers! These people also tend to float around the dispensary gossiping unethically for all to hear. Not what potentially unwell patients collecting medication what to hear.

I have been working at Day Lewis full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - SOME kind members off staff in certain branches - Potential for Xmas bonus

    Cons

    - Pay as little as they can - A lot of work/ stress for little money - No pay rises - No progression - Very poor management - Horrendous communication - Lies

    Advice to Management

Need a lot more training. Need to work on communication with other staff members. Don't make promises you cant keep (e.g. promising pay rises then never giving them).
