I worked at De Montfort University full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Relaxed environment Flexible working Good Salary and Pension

    Cons

Nepotism is rife. If you’re not in the “in crowd” (or best mates with VC / department heads you won’t get anywhere). Training is none existent. No room for progression. OH doesn’t take mental health seriously. HR department is the worst I have dealt with. Massive breeches in gdpr happen daily (one example would be they sent interview information for all shortlisted candidates to one of the candidates as his name was similar to the manager interviewing). Jobs are given to young staff if they look right but are inadequately trained. Financial misconduct is just rife! Processes and Procedures are ignored.
