Pros

Four day week, holiday and pension

Cons

The decline started when DARA management took over, making pipes, machine shop and in house electrical repairs were considered old fashioned and phased out. The MOD gave extra profitable work to boost sale price . Managers joked how the borrowed hours from next year to meet targets. The voluntary redundancy scheme stripped it of numbers and experience. Babcock is the final nail in the coffin, it has only made profit one year since sale. They cleared out expensive experienced managers and replaced with cheaper clueless yes men. Site managers rarely lasted a year as made scapegoats by board. Each year parts became scarcer due to not enough liquid cash generated , rumours that this money diverted to prop up business. Ran out of nitrogen bottles, air con gas and waste oils, wastewater not collect due to late bill payment five times one year! Service contract for air con machines cancelled so when they went past service date you had to wait weeks for management to arrange someone to be booked in
