I worked at Demon Tweeks full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company has a lovely new building which has been fitted to ensure your stay at work is a comfortable one, the company take matters such as health and safety seriously, which is odd because they work you to the maximum amount of hours possible whilst giving the least amount of breaks possible. Most colleagues are great, there are a few who do very little yet because they are very friendly with the management they get away with it.

    Cons

When you break down the salary of £18,500 into monthly salary it is £1,541 pre tax which is £385 per week pre tax, which is £77 per day, which sounds great, until you remember each day is 08:30 until 5:30 with 30 minutes a day unpaid lunch, 8.5 hours divided by £77, puts you on £9.05 an hour! This is amazing, well not when you factor in the two Saturdays per month you have to do too, this means you work a total of 187 hours per month for £1,541 pre tax, meaning you are actually on £8.24 an hour, which is still higher than basic wage, however, when you then have to deal with: * Fake stock. * Purchasers that don't have a clue. * PHONES! * Egos. * Knowledge that sales do very little yet actually get commission. * Knowledge that you will actually be lying to customers as management do not understand sales of goods act. * Dead-end seat with no progression. * No money for pay rises yet multi million pound cars parked up right below your feet, also MD turns up in a different flash car every day.

    Advice to Management

Start to reward your staff for doing a great job and putting up with all your BS, almost everyone that still works for Demon Tweeks works hard and I'm at a loss to understand why, they are treated like dirt, if we all walked out on Monday you'd be in a very bad position, do something to stop this!

I worked at Demon Tweeks full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You could get good discount on certain items as a staff member. The majority of people who work there are genuine hard working people. The parking is extremely secure and has CCTV. it wasn't a job that you stay for much longer after 5.30 (a few minutes max) so you got off on the dot unlike many other call centres. Very nice new facilities, get used to them because you will be seeing them a lot.

    Cons

The hours. 8.30-5.30 monday to friday with a 30 minute break throughout the whole day. Management can be generous though and give you x2 15 minute breaks if you request it. You are also contracted to work a saturday every 3 weeks at the same hours. Not much happens after 1pm, kiss goodbye to your work life balance. There is a manager-only staircase that allows higher ups to spy on workers which is a shame because as I've said, the people who work there work extremely hard and by casting accusing glares at them it makes the staff feel guilty for turning up to work. Also, there is a room on the second floor that is always closed. I was told it was supposed to be a gym room for members of staff but instead has been used as a storage room for the owners shall we say offensive and inappropriate items. Certain managers have zero people skills and use their position of power to delegate everything (including manager calls. Every time we had a customer who wanted to speak to a manager we had to pass it on to someone else who was not the manager). Not a good example to set in my opinion. There is a fine line between delegating everything and not doing any work. Previous comments about stock on here are also correct and a huge chunk of calls are people chasing orders. I left because I felt I was never going to progress in this company despite being told how customer services opens up other opportunities in the business.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate the atmosphere that you help to generate. The company needs to be dragged into the 21st century. Be more down to earth with your workers and always ensure they are in the right frame of mind to get their routines done, ensure you provide them a hand if they need it. Your job is easy if theirs is so take that little bit of extra time out of your day to make someone feel important to the team.

I worked at Demon Tweeks full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Discount, Secure Car Park, Can listen to music whilst working

    Cons

No Pay Structure, Long Working Hours 54 hour week with a Saturday. Only 1 30minute unpaid Lunch, Very strict if you're 30 seconds late but you're expected to arrive 10 minutes prior to your start time, Progression opportunities are blocked. The HR department is non-existent and there is no help for staff with mental health issues nor do they pay sick pay. Upper management always talks down to staff and insults using homosexual references and thinks it's okay. Very low staff morale. Very unorganised workplace and very difficult to book time off. Lots of false promises, after the new office building was finished, warehouse staff were promised a new canteen, but after 2 years this never happened, the aircon unit has also been broken for over a year and never been sorted!

    Advice to Management

Create a more structured workplace, staff should be paid based on experience/ years served not how much they are liked by upper management. Create some benefits and incentives to reward hard-working members of staff. Speak to people like they are human beings not like an animal thats just taken a no.2 on your new rug.

I worked at Demon Tweeks full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some discounts on certain car parts

    Cons

Extremely long working hours with minimal breaks. No free tea, coffee or milk. Extremely poor staff training with plenty of career progression promised but none actually offered. During the time I was there (over 2 years) one person actually got promoted. 2 others moved sideways in the company with no pay increases but these were marketed as promotions to the rest of staff. Around once a month there was an email sent to all employees containing the following; “with immediate effect [employee name] is no longer employed by Demon Tweeks.” There was no explanation, no context, no professionalism. Whilst I was working there I observed managers displaying posters of topless women around the office and openly talking about female employees in an extremely unprofessional manner. Staff turnover is extremely high (surprisingly) as well as sickness rates. There is no annual pay review (despite being promised on initial employment). The family run business would often shout at, degrade, humiliate and bully staff members in to submission. You are given one half an hour unpaid break and “the ability to go and make a tea or coffee whenever you like”... however you are monitored as to how many times you leave your desk. An extremely unpleasant place to work. Also it’s worth mentioning that the benefits in the 4 star review are exhaggerated and although technically available; I did not meet a single member of staff that was offered anything other than the cycle to work scheme or parent vouchers.

    Advice to Management

Trying to give a family run business advice on how to run a business is pointless. They treat people terribly, live in the past and don’t care about anything as long as they keep making money. A fine example of this was being taken on tours of the new impressive office building before it opened. With a ground floor full of the owners private multi-million pound supercar collection, state of the art facilities and having management brag that the new building was paid for upfront with no loans or debt of any kind. Then paying staff marginally if at all above minimum wage and being too cheap to provide free tea and coffee.

    Cons

Long Hours, 6 day week on 2 week rota, Pathetic salary for hours worked, Unpaid 30min break, no sick pay, no maternity pay, 20 days holiday, difficult to book time off, horrible upper management, very unorganised, poor computer system, poor staff facilities, no protective clothing or uniform provided, no Christmas party, no benefits or incentives, bribed into working bank holidays, very low staff moral and employees and managers get very stressed. Warehouse gets very hot in summer and very cold in winter, Not very clean work environment, if you are genuinely sick management will treat you like you are in the wrong.

    Advice to Management

Give some staff benefits, and some incentives to your workforce and you will get more out of your employees and have a lower staff turnover, staff moral is incredibly low!

I have been working at Demon Tweeks full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Facilities. Just had a major upgrade. The building is superb along with the working desks. Canteen is excellent and the toilets are like something from the Hilton. A lot of money spent. There are showering facilities too. Parking. Plenty of free parking on site. Very safe too.

    Cons

First of all. That 5 star review is obviously been added by management. It reads like a cheesey job advertisement. That’s the level they steep to. Discounts - You get “wholesale” plus 5% then they add 20% VAT! With Demon Tweeks being one the most expensive places anyway you don’t really save. Ethics- We don’t inform customers of any delays. People are expecting their orders to be delivered in a matter of days. But it could be weeks but they won’t find out unless they contact us first. Working week - 42 hour week/51 hour week. You have to work every other Saturday which you a not allowed to take off unless you can swap with someone. Not an easy task. You cannot book off as a holiday. Working Day. 8:30am-5:30pm with only a 30min break (unpaid). System. The system they use is between 17-21 years old depending on who you speak with. Absolute shocking. It’s slow, very difficult to get the hang of. Treatment of staff. Poor. They have a very high turn over/ sick days with staff. They have a staircase for management and a staircase for staff. Under no circumstances are you to use the posh one! Middle management are fine, but the senior management/directors have minimal if any contact with staff. Money. Not bad really but once you break the salary down (£18,500) with the hours you work it’s the same as everywhere else. They don’t listen to their staff. They’re here to work and that’s it. That don’t take any feed back and when you do suggest something they take it as an insult.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff. Ridiculous every other Saturday. Make it a half day. We have nothing to do past 2pm on a Saturday.

I worked at Demon Tweeks full-time

    Pros

Work here if you want no work life balance and enjoy being treated like an enemy

    Cons

Management is disconnected from regular waged employees, they're more concerned with greed and shocking customer service and upper management than actually making Demon Tweeks a good work environment. They're more interested in funding self absorbed pet projects than providing a decent work environment and decent wages. They're so self absorbed they have no idea how inappropriate they are in their language on a day to day basis or how they look down on employees below them. I've personally so called Management selectively enforces the employment policies based on whatever they're agenda is. When exceptions should be made, they throw the book at employees. The company in general is a total frat house. They have a severe problem with hiring a diverse workforce. The concept of what is appropriate language in a workplace is completely lost at Demon Tweeks. The only way to move up in this company is to bro down with the fratty environment and management. Otherwise you have to endure it until you finally quit (or get fired).

    Advice to Management

Review the definition of a hostile work environment. Stop spending as much time on pet projects and more time working to advance the brand instead of building up an adult playground for the steering committee. Instead of portraying and marketing yourself as an ethical family based company that cares about its workers for branding reasons, actually do it. Oh and don't write positive reviews on here directors pretending to be X employees it just sums up how pathetic and self absorbed you really are.
