    Pros

You get to learn a lot, you are exposed to senior bankers and clients quite early. Good deal flow as of now

    Cons

Some clouds on the future. Not really optimistic on the industry outlook in general. Long hours and little free time. Work life balance to be reviewed.

    Pros

At the team level, people are bright and really care, they work hard and want to do a good job. Benefits are good.

    Cons

Too many changes of strategic direction and senior leadership in technology made it very difficult to make progress. Promotions and pay rises very hard to come by.

    Advice to Management

Stop changing direction and invest more in your people. Instead of bringing in people from outside, hire more from within and rework the promotion process.

    Pros

DB is based in London Wall, so that is a better location for some, than canary wharf. You may do well in DB if you are a politician.

    Cons

Bonus system is not merit based, rather based on who you know. When I was there, I travelled to Frankfurt and did not get reimbursed travel expenses (flights, hotel) which proved expensive for me. When you want to move up, you have to move on, unless you are in with the right crowd. All in all, a rather unfriendly, officious and political place where you have to watch your back at all times. I was in IT, maybe it's ok if you are a trader.

    Advice to Management

treating staff with respect costs nothing and creates loyalty to the company. To do that you have to know your staff, and reward based on merit.

I worked at Deutsche Bank CIB full-time

    Pros

Opportunity to travel, large database of interesting trade ideas and investment ideas, some people are quite intelligent

    Cons

EXTREMELY POOR CULTURE, people are very unwilling to help, massive backstabbers. Management on the other hand is completely clueless as to what is going on in the bank. Systems are very poor and inefficient, getting trades done is close to impossible due to internal inefficiencies. Also sales people are not at all cooperative.

    Advice to Management

Try spending more time on the trading floor to get better understanding of the business you are in. Turning up before 11am sometimes might be helpful as well.
