      Pros

Flexible working times. Not really stuffy where you dress smart casual. Encouraging department

      Cons

Career progression is rather limited, so you could be stuck in the same role for many years

Go somewhere else if you want your salary to keep up with inflation and your effort recognised, not your brown nose

Jun 24, 2019 - DL4B and Personal Lines in London, England, England
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Flexible working and good work/life balance. - Good company values, shame you won't go far if you happen to follow them.

      Cons

      - It used to be a good place to work until a senior hiring was made in DL4B marketing department, now it's all run by nepotism and favoritism. - Personal Lines is no different, when a position opens it will be given to a friend, with internal candidates ignored without the chance of an interview. - Extremely rigid structure with lots of politics involved. - Totally averse to change despite all they say. Changing something costs so much effort and time that it's not worth it. - No career progression and salaries are dictated by a very rigid old fashion HR system not in touch with the market, which means that you may work extremely hard one year and they will tell you that your salary increase will be 0.05% because you are already being paid the correct amount according to how they benchmarked the position some time 10 years ago... So you will effectively lose purchasing power since salaries won't keep up with inflation. - Always running behind targets which are set up unrealistically high and without considering that the products don't keep up with the competition so everyone will be stressed out but there will not be much they can actually do and colleagues will be laid off because it's the easiest thing to do

Thank you for sharing such an honest review. We’d like to think that our people can speak to their managers to resolve any issues or frustrations they might have at work. However, if you feel that you’re unable to do this we’d encourage you to get in touch with the HR team.

How to make friends and influence people

Apr 1, 2019 - Customer Service Representative in Ipswich, England, England

      Business Outlook

      Pros

The pay is adequate for the job. The unit managers are engaged and the CEO is approachable (Penny James). The locations is good for alternative methods of transportation than driving as there is no parking or subsidised parking. Always trying new things to motivate the call centre agents such as free fruit and promotional merchandise etc. Friendly agents and a load of diveristy in who works there.

      Cons

Sickness and their disciplinary plans are very heavy handed even when medical evidence is submitted. Only the right people can achieve career progression. Many good agents get overlooked because they don’t fit in with the team leader demographics, regardless of continual outstanding performanc. Some team leaders seem to penalise some members more than others, favourism is a big thing in DLG.

      Pros

Forward thinking business with a passion to make things much easier for our people and our customers. With great benefits, career progression, compensation and a wonderful atmosphere where hierarchy isn't the be all and end all but is inclusive DLG is hands down the best employer I've ever had the pleasure to work for.

      Cons

I really enjoy working here but if I'm being picky there are certain repetitive tasks that are expected in the role.

      Great work culture

      Pros

DLG has worked hard to create a diverse and happy workforce. The culture has changed hugely for the better since the old RBS days. It is great to be part of successful and innovative marketing team which has a high profile externally.

      Cons

Too many stakeholders at times can slow down projects. They lose good people in some areas through lack of opportunity for career progression.

The company itself is great to work for but the management let it down.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Company benefits and the facilities are great.

      Cons

Management trying to make your role harder to make changes that make little to no difference. The company itself is great to work for but the management let it down. It's poorly managed and no one takes control of their staff and treat people like adults. It's a great college to gain skills and qualifications to go elsewhere but career progression is very difficult.

Thank you for your review. I'm glad you agree that our benefits are fantastic. We really do value the views of our people and encourage a culture where everyone feels that they can share their ideas and they're listened to. Totally agree that some of the best ideas come from our people - we only have to look at our Idea Lab success stories to see that.
