If you value your mental health, do not take a job here

Pros

There are some really decent people working here, all beaten down but I made some friends for life out of working here. They occasionally arrange a free pizza or some form of takeaway food, but do then hang it over your head for the weeks preceding and following.

Cons

You are just a number, if you do not fit the bill or are not performing up to unattainable standards they will quite happily boot you out of the door. In looking back, I have never been unhappier in a job than I was here and I had not spoken to anyone there who wasn't. Management are out to make themselves look good and will twist things in any way they can, throwing whomever under the bus in the process. They're trying to drive cultural change but this is just a superficial drive, no management or HR actually care or want to listen.

Pros

They pay well, and you get a free coffee every so often.

Cons

It has taken a while to feel ready to write a review of working for Doncasters, in part as I had to spend alot of time working on building my confidence as an Engineer back up again. In my opinion, one shared by other employees former and current I have spoken with, Doncasters management have little concern for their employees health mentally or physically, and often stand on the wrong side of what is moral. Some examples of these are: - Heavy work loads that require large amount of over time and comments of inefficiency being made when deadlines aren't met - 6 month long probationary periods being extended at a moments notice, with reasons such as a few days off sick being used for justification. Leading to promised courses start dates being delayed and knocking the confidence of employees who are in any other company valued. - Experienced and hardworking employees being put of a temporary contracts for wanting to take unpaid leave and never permanently rehired on return, disaplinaries for reasons such as not filling out the correct form, going into self isolation for covid or side effects due to mediciation causing them to faint . In addition multiple people finishing courses then being offered no job progression and being expected to stay on the same wage. - Pregnant employees being made redundant then rehired at a much lower wage and being given no option but to work throughout lockdown on site. People who are long term sick being demoted rather than supported. - Employees being signed off with stress after being burnt out by the managements unrealistic expectations. I am aware that this is only my view of what working at Doncasters was like but it is a view I wish I had been given before I moved to work for them. I am sure they will comment saying things have changed. None of the current employees I have spoken to have supported this.

Pros

I genuinely experienced nothing positive in the 8 weeks I worked there. I lost all my confidence and was left mentally ruined by the company.

Cons

- Lack of care & honesty - No sense of direction - No training support - Appalling attitude 'just deal with it, we didn't have training, so you won't either' - Unfriendly co workers - Red Flags at every turn, first day on the job I was told to 'run away from Doncasters' & much much more
