I have been working at Dorsey & Whitney full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pro bono programs are wonderful with full-time staff supporting and fostering the opportunities

    Cons

The firm is profit driven, however, it tends to pay less attention to associates’ and staff’s well-beings and life and work balance, especially during the pandemic.

    Pros

Great attorneys, very knowledgeable- generally quite congenial

    Cons

Be prepared to work- a lot. If you aren't sure about your particular career path or are unwilling to be fully dedicated to this job, at all times, this is not the firm for you.

I have been working at Dorsey & Whitney full-time

    Pros

New Denver office head has been attending support staff meetings and seems to really care about everyone, which is a refreshing change from our past office head. We get Kleenex and fresh fruit once a week now, which shows our office head is listening to the small things that make a difference. Most of the partners are nice but a few are holding the firm back. The focus on diversity training is encouraging.

    Cons

The firm talks about improving engagement and satisfaction, but that all appears to be lip service. They spend more time trying get industry awards as “best X” or “top X” than they do on the people or technology which suggests they buy the awards rather than earn the awards. They’ve run good employees off (staff and associates) including the most recent office manager who was trying to improve things. Law firm culture is 10-15 years behind. New ideas are squashed. Associates need more ongoing support and time to develop. Who will come in and be successful in this culture? We need and deserve more transparency.
