Shady MLM Company - Avoid if you want actual marketing experience

Pros

Im writing this review to help out college students who are likely to fall into the mistake of believing their ads for "internships". Getting hired is incredibly easy, this is because of the high turnover rate.

Cons

During my interview for a "Marketing Internship" I asked "What is the office environment like?" and was told it was" Youthful and energetic". The actual answer to that question is "There is no actual office, you are going to be standing at a kiosk in Costco trying to sell DirectTV to people who really do not want it." - So that says enough about this company. The red flags are everywhere in this place but I was desperate enough to give it a chance, but there is no way around it. They try to trick college students looking for internships to get some cheap disposable labor, they fill your "training" with promises of huge, unrealistic pay levels. "Managers" are about as unqualified as can be and either don't realize or don't care that the company is just a big shady multi-level marketing scheme. Final note, I would not believe a word of the positive reviews, they all identically match the same rhetoric that the "managers" would spew in the interviews so it is safe to say they are fakes.

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you had a negative experience, however, we’re concerned with a few of your comments. Firstly, an MLM Company, or Multi-Level Marketing company, is defined as an organization that requires their employees to invest in the company, which never happens at Dover Solutions. These companies also depend heavily on their employees to recruit their friends and family to join the company as well. While we’d be happy to have our employees refer qualified individuals to our company, our positions are filled through normal recruiting methods. Secondly, we do not “trick” anyone into working with our company for “cheap labor.” We have a three-round interview process to make sure that our team has a full understanding of our positions which all have a base-pay of at least $10-15 an hour with opportunities for bonuses and incentives on top of that. Considering minimum wage in Texas is $7.25/hour, we feel that this is an agreeable amount for an Entry Level position. Also, we realize that it would be unrealistic to believe that every entry level employee will end up falling head over heels in love with our company’s culture and goals. However, we don’t believe that it is fair to discount the positive experiences that have been showcased on our Glassdoor profile. Glassdoor is a great platform for employees to share their experiences and it’s not fair to those employees to have their views snubbed because of your personal experience and opinions of the company. Again, we apologize that you didn’t have the best experience with our company, but we hope you find something that brings happiness and positivity into your life.

Don't Fall for It

Pros

One of the "trainers" was great.

Cons

Dishonest about reality of job requirements. You go to Costco to sell Direct TV to customers walking around. Only can "move up" based on sales numbers. If this suits you, then, that's great! Unfortunately, they hide this under the guise of management training. Boss is unprofessional. No health benefits. Advertised pay is way off. Everyone I was hired with quit within 2 weeks.

Thanks for the feedback! We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a positive experience with our company, but we're glad that you were able to make a good connection with one of our trainers! In regards to your comments about the position's specifics. We pride ourselves in being transparent and all of our applicants go through a thorough screening process before being offered the position. We do this in order to make sure that our applicants are making an informed decision before accepting employment with us. We apologize for any confusion that might have happened along the way, but we encourage our applicants to as many questions as they need to during the interview process. All of our positions are paid an hourly or salary rate that is negotiated with our manager. Again, we apologize for any confusion and feel free to reach out to our HR department if you have any questions or further feedback.

Pros

Lots of opportunity to grow if you know what you're doing. Very competitive. Quick opportunity to learn direct marketing. Costco employees are amazing and you'll probably want to work at Costco or at the wireless center by the end of the first shift.

Cons

In-store marketing job (selling Directv at a kiosk in Costco). Your timesheet will be changed, without your knowledge, even after you sign it. 40 hours are NOT promised unless you are selling. Leaders only spend time with the top 20%, disregard the rest. Schedules are subject to change without timely notice.

Dear reviewer, Thanks for the review! We're sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with our company. We're very team-oriented so we take these reviews very seriously. We're concerned with a few of your points. First, the timesheets are never edited after they've been submitted unless to add in mandatory breaktimes that are included inside of shifts or if they were filled out incorrectly. Second, all of our full-time positions consist of 40 hours a week spread out over 5 days a week unless someone is not prepared for their shift, in which case, they aren't able to come back to work until they are prepared for their work day. Also, like stated earlier, we are very team-oriented and we pride ourselves on giving hands-on training to every individual that joins our team, so we deeply apologize if you ever thought that wasn't the case as that was not our intention. Again, thank you for the feedback and we hope you find another great opportunity!
