Very stimulating job in a friendly team

    Pros

Stimulating environment. Very different projects covered, a lot to learn, that means you don't get bored and you learn about a lot of things, which, if you are a nerd like me, is good. The work atmosphere is good, very casual vibe between employees and boss (there is no "strict hierarchy"). Every employee has a voice and a place in the company. The CEO looks at people and their potential, not just a resume. This job was for me an opportunity for personal and professional growth: what do you want to do/learn/achieve, what skills you want to gain, and, altogether, how the employment can be a mutually beneficial experience. As it is a small company, everybody needs to get multitasking anyway and find what they like and what to pursue (e.g. doing marketing, event management, networking, etc.). Good work/life balance. The CEO-employee relationship is trust-based, as long as the work is done, we don't count hours, check sick days, etc., which is highly appreciable.

    Cons

The workflow is not constant, alternating between intensive and quiet periods. You need to be organised to stay ahead of things in busy times, and keep yourself busy during quieter ones. It can get stressful and you need to be able to manage stress and get a lot of work done in a short period of time to meet the deadlines. The learning curve is STEEP. If you have no prior experience, you need to be able to fail and learn and not be upset if you don't get things right first/second/.../10th time.

    Cons

Work can be intense and you need to be self-organised as you work alone most of the time.

    Pros

The consultants are very friendly and always provide constructive feedback in order to help you draft grant applications effectively. Working in a tech incubator also gives you plenty of opportunities to meet a wide range of other tech businesses and experts. It is a great place to be, especially for interns!

    Cons

There are a lot of technical terms to understand at the beginning but this is part of the learning process.
