Big Mistake for My Career and My Health

Pros

-Good perks (personal trainer 3x a week, stocked kitchen, yoga instructor 1x week, dog friendly, makeshift gym, flexible hours, etc.) -Good benefits (401k, matching 401k, health, medical, etc.) -Good pay (but you will likely be salaried/exempt, expect to work 45+ hours a week without overtime pay) -Unlimited PTO (you will need your entire team's approval + you will need to develop a schedule of who will take over what while you're gone; can get too beurocratic to actually take time off)

Cons

-Toxic work environment (excessive gossip & comiserating, very unprofessional environment) -Lying to clients and similar unethical practices -"self-managed teams" workstyle is simply untrue. There is a management team (in everything but name) and they will undermine you and your team's decisions if they don't align with their designs. Don't expect any autonomy and don't be surprised if you deal with micromanaging "non-managers". Unlike a traditional work environment, you will not have a manager advocating on your behalf nor someone you can directly go to when having a work-related issue. Honestly, it will feel more like 1945 Berlin with the Stasi. -Share the Load (if you get your work done quickly, don't expect to go home on time. It is expected that you take on the work of other individuals- including that of other teams- once you are done with your load)

Pros

There are exciting opportunities for traveling

Cons

Employees are seen as disposable, there is no coaching, you have no idea what time you will be allowed to leave work - sometimes working 12 - 16 hour days.

Unpleasant Workplace Culture

Pros

Great client roster and exciting projects.

Cons

Sadly, this company doesn't have a strong mission or leadership team to support it. The company projects a false environmental facade of team and collaboration. With little transparency into projects and lack of in place procedures the team suffers as do the clients. Furthermore, no one is willing to take ownership of projects and if you try to set expectations and standards for the team you get reprimanded by management. Instead, you have a team that is more concerned about spreading gossip verses helping each other and the client.
