I have been working at Dyson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Dyson is one of the most well-known companies within the united kingdom and whilst there are a tonne of things wrong with the business, it's reassuring to know that the company is ambitious in its expansion.

    + Standard 9-5
+ Good food within the canteen
    + Good staff benefits
    + Reasonable salary and bonuses
    + Free shuttle from Chippenham
    + Casual office environment
    + Dyson institute of technology
    + Desire to expand

    Cons

Now, on to the cons. Despite being around for the last 20+ years, it feels that the company has expanded too rapidly and whilst an extensive training program has been developed for people working within the contact centre, RDD has absolutely no such thing in place.

The introduction talks are a brilliant way to bring people into the company, however, once those have concluded, you're left to fend for yourself in a sink or swim environment, which is incredibly stressful for the employee but also detrimental to the business and will only end up causing the business to shoot itself in the foot.

    - Lack of training beyond intro talks
    - Sink or swim attitude
    - Office politics
    - Hostility to any changes not suggested by management
    - Adherence to obsolete research methods
    - No explanation for how internal project develop

    Advice to Management

Enhance the current training program for new employees; ensure that there is a training regime in place so they can effectively adjust to their new role. Perhaps consult with their line manager and determine how they're going to be trained up.

Ensure that employees suggestions to better company are taken seriously and not simply dismissed.

Keep heads above the parapet to ensure current developments within respective research fields can be implemented within the company.

Drop the "sink or swim"/"marmite" attitude. This attitude is not only counter-productive, it is more costly to the business in the long run. Yes, there are a large number of people who'd love to work for Dyson, but high staff turnover means that a lot of time is being spent on recruiting replacements and then "training" them, only for them to leave later on. To reiterate, consider that the "Dyson way" may have some serious flaws to it, especially as the company continues to grow. If this attitude persists, it is only a matter of time before the company fails.

I have been working at Dyson full-time

    Pros

Strong development opportunities if located near Malmesbury Head Office.
Strong brand with unique identity & new high tech HO campus.
    Autonomy within role is great.

    Cons

The Retail Team feels separate to what is happening at Dyson HO - it's the boring department of an exciting company.
Sales team work primarily on weekends so typically involves working 3/4 weekends a month.
    Very poor work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Expectation for teams to work all hours is not acceptable.

    I worked at Dyson full-time

    Pros

Good discount, some great co-workers. Most people really buy into the Dyson cult.

    Cons

Senior management in IT not really team aware, looking out primarily for themselves. No cohesive strategy, or at least able to give a cohesive strategy.

    Advice to Management

Trust in your staff, be friendlier and more approachable.
