I have been working at EF Education First full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Amount of working time compared to a typical 9-5 is lower. The support and materials provided make it very easy for someone with no experience to teach. There are good opportunities for moving upwards if you can commit to more than one year.

    Cons

Not too many vacation days, lots of busy work

I worked at EF Education First full-time for more than a year

    Pros

A good company for your first job if you're super young, and if you don't need money and are looking to make a lot of friends. Good training, because they are preparing you for levels of abuse you can't imagine. Nothing can prepare you for being in the call center at this company. There's a beer fridge open for a few hours on Thursdays and Fridays, which we desperately needed after the abusive phone calls all day, all...

    Cons

Cult-vibes: forced to smile, ride the office scooters, not each lunch alone, forced to participate in scavenger hunts, encouraged to scam parents. Pays less than minimum wage, even for bilinguals. You only get to travel for free as a Tour Guide, so in the Agent role and the TA role, you don't get to travel. Be careful; they pay you once a month but don't warn you. Sometimes they pay you late, and you can go 6-7 weeks...

    Advice to Management

The managers make over 100K a year but don't help or support you. Please go bankrupt.

C'est un super job qui offre de nombreux avantages en terme de formation. Le stage peut paraître long mais ils prennent le temps d'investir en toi.

    Cons

Même en stage c'est beaucoup de responsabilités.

I worked at EF Education First full-time for less than a year

    Pros

EF has an excellent on-boarding program, which will make your transition into life teaching abroad a lot easier. I taught in Shanghai, China through EF and their on-boarding allowed me to stay at a hotel for free for the first 2 weeks in China and make friends with the other people in my group who remained some of my closest friends during my time there. EF is also really helpful with the visa process.

    Cons

Besides on-boarding and help with the visa, I did not particularly enjoy teaching in China through EF. They have a really high turnaround for international teachers, for a reason. Firstly, their pay is decent but substantially lower than you can make if you have some experience teaching abroad, and in that country in particular. Also, since they are constantly hiring new teachers, they treat their employees like cogs...

    Advice to Management

Pay more and treat us as if we were not just disposable employees so you can get international teachers who actually stay past 6 months-1 year.

I have been working at EF Education First part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I'm in my 3 year of working with EF. It has been perfect for me because I have been working around Europe and I have moved to a few countries and now back in Canada. So in my case it was a perfect way to ensure that I had income in between jobs or in the process of moving. I love the students. They are super motivated and super excited to learn English with Native English Speakers.

    Cons

The main con is that when I'm searching for other online English jobs, I am seeing that they are offering $24-34/hour USD for the same amount of preparation for classes, corrections for students and overall work. Whereas with English Live it starts at $10 USD/hour and gradually gets larger year after year. While I was abroad, the pay was sufficient. However now that I'm back in North America, I'm debating whether the...

    Advice to Management

I understand that the writing corrections are an extra source of income. I also took part in the voice recordings for the extra income. I will make a case to see what other options can work for me as well. As I really love your company, your students and everything.
