I worked at EF Education First full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-great materials -amazing students -easy to use their Online platform

    Cons

-salary is too low for teaching position with a minimum increase every year which is barely catching up with inflation in the UK. - No opportunities to advance or earn more money. -No possibilities to do less than 15 hours per month. This can be an additional job for many, therefore, it should be a flexible contract.

    Advice to Management

Wages should be matched to your competitors. Other Online teaching companies pay much more per hour.

I have been working at EF Education First full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I work at the B2B division of EF, where we train the world's biggest companies in languages. It's a great mission. EF invests a lot in employee development and satisfaction. I get to work with a truly international team, and travel to many countries where we run operations.

    Cons

Even though it's an established company, people work with an entrepreneurial mindset, which may not be suitable for everyone.

I worked at EF Education First part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun environment, free TEFL training (if you want it, you don't need it if you have a degree), a lot of independence given to you in the classroom. You have to follow a textbook, but can also mix up the way you teach and play games at the start and end etc.

    Cons

Once you add in the time you need to take to lesson plan, the wage is actually not all that great. It's very clever how you're quoted per teaching block and not per hour, because this means that all lunchtime meetings, training, and overtime are not paid - you only get paid for your three hour teaching block. Watch out especially if you're applying to be a leader, as things like London trips do not include travel...

    Advice to Management

The company is doing well and staff work hard. EF is a fun place to work but the fact we get paid so little (especially for a skilled job - teachers have to be qualified), really puts a downer on the experience and makes us feel undervalued and like you're cutting corners. Also - pay the host families more.

I worked at EF Education First full-time

    Pros

Incredible opportunity to work with different cultures They do seem to recruit people with a good team ethic

    Cons

Unless you're a teacher, pay is below par for any industry (production staff at all levels Required to work all bank holiday only with time off in lieu, which you'll never get because they're always so understaffed and over worked there's no time. They'll bring in junior graduate staff to help in the summer months from Sweden at 3 times the salary you make Very low morale Almost slave labour No growth unless you're...

I worked at EF Education First full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good learning experience and very dedicated and passionate people

    Cons

No support from your line manager (school director), low salary, working 12-16 hours a day up to 6 days a week.

    Advice to Management

You expect too much from people and don't understand those with families. I was discriminated by my line manager for having children. When I wasn't able to work until 22:00 one night I was told it was unacceptable and I need to sort out my personal life. I had started work at 07:00 that day. There is no care for student welfare to the point students terminate their course and go home because you don't want to listen to...
