I have been working at Edelman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great company benefits Cool Christmas party Free toast for breakfast Pretty office Get to work with some huge clients

    Cons

Where to start..... You are always expected to be working, I feel sorry for juniors as they are literally expected to dedicate their lives to the job. Weekend working is too common and there are some individuals who will want to have calls with you at either 7am or 10pm....there is no work life balance whatsoever. Deadlines are poorly planned.

Who doesn't love free toast! A well-balanced breakfast sure is a great way to kick-start the work day. I only wish your work day wasn't as long as you state. While we have new reporting mechanisms in place to better keep track of and manage overtime, your feedback is valuable as we ...

I worked at Edelman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Dynamic and creative teams; opportunities to build a wide variety of PR and marketing experience quickly; commitment to training and skill development for staff; young and passionate people

    Cons

Slow to recognise and promote; slow to hire; will staff accounts using freelancers working remotely; fosters a blame culture; will put inexperienced people in positions of responsibility without sufficient oversight; too top heavy in levels; choose clients over staff wellbeing; encourage long hours of working across all levels

    Advice to Management

Accounts are rarely staffed appropriately for the work often relying on team members to work long hours or across broad level gaps or to rely on freelancers to support delivery which is a highly stressful way of working. Management are often not solutions orientated enough in helping to over comes this. It is also not uncommon for more junior team members to be working 50-60 weeks with part time Directors working Considerably...

I have been working at Edelman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There is incredible talent at Edelman and the people are the best part about the job. I can only comment on the Corporate team, who are very supportive of each other and have a great team culture making for a rewarding and fun working environment, which is crucial in the fast faced and very demanding environment of a top PR (or marketing communications as we now are) agency. Corporate has recently come under new management...

    Cons

Edelman London is a large agency with single teams of more than 80 people which dictates a lot of it culture, and isn't for everyone. At the fast pace of agency life it's easy for some people to become lost. There are quite different cultures across the different teams so it's worth trying to speak to someone on your specific team to see if you think it's the right fit. Junior members should expect to work early and/or...

I have been working at Edelman

    Pros

Fantastic opportunities to work with some great consumer and corporate brands on interesting projects, very capable management at all levels, decent pay, days in lieu offered readily for working long hours or on the weekend, and a clearly articulated company vision bringing the company together.

    Cons

Employees often work long hours, not a great pension scheme, quite a top heavy structure - there is a lack of junior support staff, and senior staff often have difficulty in pushing back on clients resulting in unrealistic deadlines and over servicing.

    Advice to Management

Move to a bit more of a pyramid structure where there is a decent number of junior support staff, and try pushing back on clients. We should be offering strategic counsel and not necessarily doing every single thing they ask us to do.

I have been working at Edelman full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Good open work space and comms learning opportunities for junior level staff.

      Cons

Culture. General consensus is the leader is in over her head and cares more about her "personal brand" than the client work. Considerable favoritism based on race and gender have been created by the leader as a protection mechanism. This only promotes unprofessional and poor behavior. Solid talent not wanting to manage their work in this type of environment and play the Hunger Games have left. Salaries are much lower...
