I have been working at Edelman full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    - Focus on flexible working. Particularly in health team, flexible working is encouraged at all levels. This has greatly improved work life balance. - Clear career path - opportunity to be promoted at any time of the year. 2 line managers to guide you - Dedicated to doing good work. Standards are high, but you would expect that from the biggest agency in the world. - Creative thinking is championed

    Cons

    - If you are looking for a job where you can cruise and do very little work, it is not the place for you. You will get back from this job as much as you put in - if you are ambitious and want to excel in your career, this agency will help you do that.

I have been working at Edelman full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Full of lovely, clever, talented people who work hard for their clients and to create a great company. Hard work is recognised and rewarded. Generous holiday allowance. Flexible working actively encouraged. Nice perks like free breakfast, subsidised canteen, Thursday drinks. Good benefits package. This is a company that genuinely cares about their staff. They have quarterly, anonymous staff surveys covering all... aspects of life and work at Edelman and they take negative feedback very seriously and act upon it.

    Cons

The agency is huge (500?) and despite efforts to become an integrated communications consultancy is still siloed. Edelman has a creative department within it that is sadly under utilised by the majority of the business units who are still pure play old school PR.

    Advice to Management

Decide what you want to be - pure PR or a more generalist communications agency.

I have been working at Edelman full-time

    Pros

Entrepreneurial culture that encourages innovate thinking. This is particularly rewarding for those that want to develop something unique from their career. It also fosters and environment where people are always willing to offer their time and expertise. As a result, there are a variety of career paths available here.

    Cons

Some might say that the pace of agency life here is not for everyone. It’s not exactly a flat structure but the entrepreneurial values do mean that you get back what you put in. And while there are a variety of resources available for growth and development, the onus is on the individual to determine that path they want to make.

I have been working at Edelman full-time

    Pros

An exciting, vibrant place to work with some extremely capable, highly intelligent people creating amazing work. A commitment to greater work flexibility demonstrates Edelman's peerlessly woke credentials.

    Cons

Edelman carries the same challenge of any medium or large business - a layer or two of bureaucracy. Also, parental leave feels a little assymetrical.

    Pros

    Cons

A culture that requires dedication, drive, hard work and curiosity Not suited to those who require lots of structure, process and direction - it's fairly amorphous Requires bold thinking and the courage to speak-up

    Advice to Management

Facilitate two-way conversation and act on the insights Role model the behaviours you're looking to encourage

I have been working at Edelman full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Big, prestigious agency. Biggest in the world.

    Cons

Trying to turn the tide and get into real advertising and co tent creation. Not being successful. Hired a bunch of big shot ad people and drove them close to suicide.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the structure to make the change you want to achieve. Empower the new people, trust, brace the new. Put your speech into practice.

I have been working at Edelman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Tries to encourage a can-do approach

    Cons

The senior leadership is disengaged from the business and has little or no hands-on experience of working with most of the teams. Bad behaviour is ignored, bullying is tolerated and there is a culture which protects the old-timers in the business who actually deliver zero value. The integrated approach is just not a reality and any attempt to apply an integrated approach us undermined by the endless politics.

    Advice to Management

Get more involved in the business and actually care about your staff

I worked at Edelman full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Friendly catering and cleaning contractors.

    Cons

Without doubt the most toxic work environment I have ever experienced. Basically it's a group of competing functions and within that aggressively competing individuals. The amazing thing is I don't know why they bother given the laughable salaries, and zero bonus reality of the place. That's right, blanket zero or pitifully low bonus even for growing parts of the business.

    Advice to Management

Remember - your staff are your assets - clients value good, expert, staff not a merry go round of constantly changing junior faces.
