I worked at Edelman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You get to work on exciting brands.

    Cons

I've seen a lot of bullying - especially towards foreigners - in a way I've never had to witness before in my life. The environment in the London office is toxic. Only a certain type of people advance - hint: they're the same crop as the top management.

    Advice to Management

    Reward work, not preferences.

Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased to hear that we provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting brands, however, your comments regarding bullying, the environment and progression within the Company are obviously of concern to me. At Edelman we strive to foster a culture ...

    I worked at Edelman full-time

    Pros

The Christmas party. The young staff who hold it together

    Cons

It looks like a flashy creative office... Do not let that fool you. Behind those doors lives an outdated regime from the Mad men era. Senior management dinosaurs who earn eye watering salaries and have absolutely nothing to show for it. It felt like no one knew what they were actually doing. Job titles seemed to have been made up by putting a bunch of important sounding words together. “Trust” “culture” just...

    Advice to Management

I've worked in agencies before and this is by far the worst of the worst. This isn't the 70's, talk to people with the respect they deserve. Sort out your mess of Senior leadership, find out what they actually do and why you pay them so much. The average salary here is 60,000. The only way it is that high is because of the disgusting difference between your Juniors and Seniors. Retain talent, invest in THEM.

I appreciate you giving us the opportunity to hear your feedback. I’d like to share my perspective. Working at an agency can feel chaotic at times (which can be motivating and exciting in moderation). I want to emphasize to anyone reading this, how much our leaders truly care about ...

    I worked at Edelman full-time

    Pros

    Great clients and office space

    Cons

Terrible, hard, toxic culture in many parts of the agency that the bosses just don't want to know about. Led to a lot of good people moving on.

    Advice to Management

The values should apply to everyone, including management otherwise nothing will ever change

I worked at Edelman full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nice office Decent company benefits (PMI - although I never claimed it to review how beneficial it was) Major clients, looks great on your CV

    Cons

Archaic, hierarchical company culture. Senior management are treated with a reverence that they rarely deserve, and lower level staff rarely have the power or inclination to push back on poor decisions. Complete lack of transparency and culture of secrecy. Senior management assured us that 'great efforts' had been made to resolve a lack of work in our department, but the team affected were not involved or informed...

    Advice to Management

A flatter business structure would encourage the kind of collaboration the business always claims is key to its success. There needs to be no barriers between teams working together, financial or cultural. Treat your employees with the respect and transparency they deserve. Edelman feels like the Big Bad Corp of dystopian hyper-capitalism, not the modern, respectful organisation that young people expect more and more....

I worked at Edelman full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Being able to work on projects for huge brands looks great on your CV. Great benefits and a nice, modern office to work in.

    Cons

Projects did sometimes have unrealistic deadlines. Many account managers are 'yes' people, which can be detrimental to a project, rarely taking on board the professional opinion of the staff who are actually doing the deliverable work - this would consistency lead to sub-par work. The company culture is all about 'trust', yet myself and the team I worked most closely with were always kept in the dark about where the...

    Advice to Management

Please treat your employees with respect and transparency, especially when it comes to their jobs in the future. Stop account managers saying yes to every client request, clients may be important, but they are not always right, and saying yes to every request undermines the professionals who put a lot of effort into the work they do on behalf of Edelman. Valuing talent more within the company will ensure you do better...

    Pros

Flexible work (working remotely), great people and fun environment including happy hours, great summer and Christmas parties, amazing brands to work on

I have been working at Edelman full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Talented employees, particularly among juniors Great clients and feels like you are working on projects that actually matter Great cross company events

    Cons

Juniors cannot afford to eat. This is not an exaggeration. Made all the more annoying by Edelman's constant proclamations of great pay. £20,000/£21,000 in London is not a living wage and it is the juniors who stay in the office until early hours. Distribution of pay is perpetuating a culture where directors do little, leave on time and have cash to spare. High turnover rate as a consequence among juniors. Some...
