I have been working at Edelman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people, the quality of clients, the resources, travel opportunities, big budgets.

    Cons

    - It seems like it's hit or miss in terms of quality managers - some are great, others are dreadful. - Little work/life balance; long hours. - Promotional cycles are too limited. - Offices are open space and we all sit way too close to one another.

    Advice to Management

More training required on a regular basis for managers so that we maintain quality; better HR departments.

I have been working at Edelman full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

always impressed by the level of smarts in the room. excellent tactical approach based in analytics.

    Cons

lack of career pathing (especially in the Creative Network). very different standards for advancing from account staff to creative. Salary far below average for role.

    Advice to Management

reward loyalty. instead of hiring from the outside, promote from within. many are mired in roles and are just receiving a "masters" in pr to leverage for next opportunity.

I have been working at Edelman full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Diversity of work, large client list, flexibility and good work/life balance, fantastic people to work with

    Cons

Some processes are out of date and there are times when work can suffer due to unrealistic expectations or turnarounds or low budgets. But we do our best, always.

    Advice to Management

Reward the people that put the most heart into the company. They should be rewarded and feel valued. Work harder to match average salaries. Otherwise, you risk losing some of your best.

I worked at Edelman full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Pay and exposure to big name clients.

      Cons

Edelman is an old sinking ship. Very out of touch with anything going on in the industry. Profits are down, and morale and culture are dismal. I read negative glassdoor reviews before I started and wish I would have listened and stayed away. I don’t have 1 coworker that can say they truly enjoy working here. For the first time in my 15+ year career I felt men totally ran the show here and you have to be in their clique...

      Pros

Edelman is a fantastic place to begin a career, especially if one's boss is an active advocate for their professional development. You will meet people and have a host of experiences that can propel one's career -- clients come to Edelman with interesting and unique problems, and there are genuinely smart people to call colleagues to tackle these problems. Day-to-day, it's generally a pleasure to work at Edelman...

      Cons

The insurance is downright horrible and our deductible has gone up rather significantly (good luck finding a doctor for something as simple as a physical accepting new patients that accepts it), so are the 401K benefits, which vests after 3 years at a maximum of 60 percent matching (up to 4 percent of salary), which is not competitive. Pay increases has not kept pace with the increase of costs of medical/other costs.

      Cons

work/life balance; extremely challenging environment for a new mom; pay and benefits are unimpressive. bonuses are unsubstantial and often years they are nothing.

      Advice to Management
