I worked at Edelman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Huge international network and great experts from around world, big corporate clients and interesting work and some talented people

    Cons

User unfriendly financial systems and very long hours for fairly average pay; no clear progression path in my speciality; heavy HR demands (loads of onerous '360 degree' team reviews) demands and lack of flexibility from HR department on changing status of my contract.

    Advice to Management

Cut down work and hours pressure on junior staff to work long hours; be more flexible on contracts and time out options

    Advice to Management

Find more ways to reward staff financially, on a regular basis.

    Pros

Interesting work; high profile clients Nice work space; good canteen Free breakfast Nice clients - apart from PayPal Honestly that’s about it

    Cons

Very long hours (7:30am - 9pm) and often working on weekends Blame culture with no support Low pay compared to competitors Over servicing by up to 300% leads to ridiculous expectations both from clients and senior team Pretty bad leadership in Brand

    Advice to Management

Nurture staff - they’re your best asset

    Pros

Avoid this company! Worst experience of my life, I regret every second of it!

    Cons

The worst company I ever worked for!! Full of racist, xenophobic and disgusting people. Unless you are British and have connections in the company, you will be stuck in the same role forever, and will assign you the worst clients and will keep you there until midnight! This company is a Joke!! Don't call yourselves Creatives because you're not! You're a just Corporate PR agency full of small minded people. They...

I have been working at Edelman full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The work is varied, stimulating and largely based on high-profile clients and/or campaigns. It's a very young employee-base (most under 35) with lots of exciting company wide events and social perks. Lots of upward mobility and opportunities to carve out one's own niche.

    Cons

For an account executive, the work can often be menial and unchallenging. Work / life balance linked to compensation is poor. Long hours are not reflected in pay.

I worked at Edelman full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Dynamic and creative teams; opportunities to build a wide variety of PR and marketing experience quickly; commitment to training and skill development for staff; young and passionate people

    Cons

Slow to recognise and promote; slow to hire; will staff accounts using freelancers working remotely; fosters a blame culture; will put inexperienced people in positions of responsibility without sufficient oversight; too top heavy in levels; choose clients over staff wellbeing; encourage long hours of working across all levels

    Advice to Management

Accounts are rarely staffed appropriately for the work often relying on team members to work long hours or across broad level gaps or to rely on freelancers to support delivery which is a highly stressful way of working. Management are often not solutions orientated enough in helping to over comes this. It is also not uncommon for more junior team members to be working 50-60 weeks with part time Directors working Considerably...

I have been working at Edelman full-time

    Pros

    - Excellent place to learn a lot fast! Extremely high quality of client work - how it should be - Good training opportunities - Ed Williams is a good CEO from what I know - Richard Edelman visits a lot - Good benefits package - very competitive amount of holiday - Excellent line management structure: Line manager assigned purely for pastoral and development support - very hands on and genuinely care - Very flexible...

    Cons

    - Promise of a larger team through recruitment doesn't materialise because turnover is super high! (many leave!) - Strong element of favourtism: High competency and skill of some staff frequently overlooked; favourites are people who rely on personality traits and are naturally extrovert (may not be the best at their jobs but will get praise ahead of others who are being held back) - Sometimes made to feel like if you...
