I have been working at Edgar's Bakery full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I've loved working at Edgar's! Great benefits and the people are amazing! It's great to be a part of a business that has become such a staple in Alabama.

    Cons

You're working around amazing desserts all day so it's tempting to want to bring all of them home at the end of the day.

I worked at Edgar's Bakery full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The doors close at 6:00 P.M.

    Cons

    Micromanagement to the 10th Degree

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees are telling the truth. Do not ASSume that your manager is correct and the employee is wrong. The manager was deceitful, stressed, out of breath all the time from his heart racing, talked DOWN to his employees, talked to customers and employees rudely and in a condescending voice. The owners trust the manager is telling the truth. The manager has a low self image and self esteem. He appears to...

I worked at Edgar's Bakery full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Every Sunday off and closes at 6pm daily.

    Cons

Family owned business full of greedy liars. The most shady people I’ve EVER worked for. I’ve seen them drive talented, hard working people crazy to make them quit- so they can hire another with less experience for less $$$. Expect to work without breaks, extra long shifts during peak seasons just to have your hours cut during off season. Every part of operations works short staffed resulting in loss of business. Advice to Management

Sell the company and stop calling yourselves Christians. If that’s not an option, hire DM’s with actual business sense and trust them to manage your failing company. Focus on the bottom line before you are closing stores. Treat your employees fairly and work on employee retention. Adhere to employment and health department regulations. Change your way of thinking before it’s too late.

I worked at Edgar's Bakery full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Maybe if you live nearby

    Cons

Salary offered was insulting, but I took the job anyway, after promises of being able to "move up" quickly. Such a chaotic work atmosphere! No training, just a name on a list beside a job that was not fully explained to me, then a reprimand when I didn't finish the job. I lasted a couple days. There are cameras everywhere. You have to pay to eat. Can't bring food from home. I've worked in some crappy jobs, but this one...

    Advice to Management

Maybe spend a little bit of time telling your employees what they're responsible for before getting on to them for not doing it.

I worked at Edgar's Bakery part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Free food and access to bakery items

    Cons

Some of the worst upper management I have ever worked for. The owners operated the stores as a revolving door of minimum wage talent, letting them burn out and bringing in the next batch.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect and quit the "we're a Christian company" BS
