A toxic work environment

Pros

Being slightly involved in the world of TV and Film

Cons

This company talks a big game about having a positive work culture, but my experience was the complete opposite. In my opinion, leadership sets unrealistic expectations for staff, with goals that feel impossible to achieve. This pressure creates a high-stress environment that's tough to navigate, and there’s a lot of blame-shifting from the top. I also noticed a lack of professionalism in how both past and current employees were treated, which leads to a concerningly high turnover rate. Despite the company’s promises to create a supportive atmosphere, I found that the reality was quite different. The toxic vibe can leave some serious scars, making it a tough place to work. If you’re thinking about joining the team, just be aware of what you’re getting into.

Toxic culture with unrealistic expectations and high turnover

Pros

Get to work loosely within the Film and TV industry.

Cons

Avoid this company if you value stability, transparency, or your mental health. EightPM operates on constant fear, moving goalposts, and unrealistic expectations with little to no clarity on what success actually looks like. “Exceed expectations” is the mantra, but expectations are never clearly defined which creates a culture where employees are made to feel perpetually inadequate and replaceable. Turnover is incredibly high. Almost nobody stays longer than a year unless they’re senior leadership, and after watching so many people suddenly disappear, you end up working in a constant state of anxiety wondering when your turn is coming. I was eventually fired completely out of the blue, which sadly seems to be part of the pattern here. The culture feels deeply unhealthy. Employees are expected to live and breathe the company, sacrificing work-life balance without meaningful reward or recognition in return. Everyone is overworked, burnout is normalised, and humiliation is often used as a management tactic to keep people compliant and insecure. They advertise “unlimited holiday,” but in reality taking time off is heavily discouraged and approvals are extremely difficult to get. Also, take recent glowing reviews with a pinch of salt. Employees were incentivised to leave positive reviews to counter the overwhelming negative feedback. There are far healthier workplaces out there. Stay clear of this one.

What a company!

Pros

Exceptional leadership with a clear, energising direction. Over the past year the company has undergone a major cultural transformation driven by leaders who are genuinely invested in people, growth, and building a healthy, collaborative environment. Team spirit and global collaboration are real strengths. US, UK, and APAC teams work seamlessly together, and there’s a true sense of “one team” rather than siloed offices. Massive opportunities for growth. The company is on the INC 5000 list of fastest-growing businesses, and that pace creates real room for people to progress, build skills, and take on responsibilities early in their careers. You get to work in an exciting, fast-evolving industry. Product placement and entertainment marketing are quickly becoming one of the most influential channels for consumer brands, being part of that shift is incredibly rewarding. A culture that rewards initiative. If you’re someone who likes to contribute ideas, take ownership, and be part of shaping a business, this place gives you space to do it. Positive cultural reset. Any past issues mentioned in old reviews do not reflect the current environment. The culture now is supportive, transparent, performance-driven, and genuinely enjoyable. I loved it here!

Cons

Not the place for people who want a slow or predictable environment. EightPM moves quickly, and the pace can be intense at times. High expectations. If you don’t enjoy being challenged, learning fast, or being held accountable to high standards, this won’t be the right fit. Growth is part of the company’s DNA. Because it’s growing so quickly, structures and processes evolve often, great for people who like building, but tougher for those who prefer static roles.
