Cons
When I was working for AM Realty, Property Management, I found it to be extremely unprofessional. The owner frequently spoke disparagingly about investors, clients, vendors, and employees, which created a toxic work environment. The company's culture was further damaged by bizarre practices, such as holding luncheons to "celebrate" the termination of staff members, which not only demoralized the team, but also fostered a sense of insecurity and mistrust among employees. The work environment was strained by excessive workloads; employees were consistently merely treading water, with little to no help. Micromanagement was rampant, with the owner insisting on weekly reports detailing goal progress, performance, and areas for improvement. This constant scrutiny, coupled with excessive workloads, left employees feeling overwhelmed and unsupported.
The owner was demeaning and overly critical, speaking down to employees in a short and often extremely hostile manner, and her emails would frequently contain profanities. When asking about an invoice on a new property acquired, she would often respond, “F---, just pay it! I don’t want to deal with this headache!” She requires her employes to be “Yes Men,” and respond to emails and text messages, even late at night and on the weekends. The owner’s lack of professionalism, lack of respect and empathy toward her staff, and unrealistic workload expectations, made AM Realty a challenging and unpleasant place to work.
