They Treat Employees Well (at least they treated me well!) - Principal Design Engineer Allegro MicroSystems Employee Review

Pros

This may vary a bit by business unit or organization, but in general, I found that the leadership of ALGM takes good care of its employees and has rather generous and compassionate HR policies. In particular, I witnessed thoughtful accommodation of individuals facing family medical crises, and when layoffs came, the company spent a lot of resources giving those affected as much security as possible to help look for their next opportunity. Work-life balance also appeared to be a priority of senior management, and I was in a position to know that the CEO himself made preserving peoples' annual bonuses during a period of fluctuating sales a priority.

Cons

The only downside to ALGM is that a lot of their bread-and-butter products are not especially complex components, so not every position involves working with the most 'exciting' technology. Also, being mid-size, selling high-volume/low-margin components, and not occupying a near-monopoly position in their market, they can't afford to pay crazy top-tier tech industry compensation. (But still -- it's nothing to sniff at.)
