Pros

Quality editorial Smart, personable colleagues Genuine concern about meeting objectives The ability to provide clients with true ROI for their advertising dollars

Cons

Service journalism is the expertise of the company, but their websites are weak. There are only four major titles left All of the magazines are dedicated to women, ideally there would be more diversity. Publishers are reluctant to reduces rates, if they did certain pieces of business which have left would have been retained- do they not see the current economy?

Pros

Not as glamorous as Hearst or Conde, but also not as nasty as some of the bigger media companies -- there's a small-company feel at the publishing group. People are genuinely nice and want to put out the best products. Because of their management relationship with Time Inc, there's an opportunity to work on some large-scale projects.

Cons

The offices are extremely cramped and shoddy. While the company touts work/life balance, getting a flexible schedule or telecommuting can be held against you come promotion time. However, I think management has addressed this issue already -- one of the benefits of this company is that it takes employee feedback very seriously. Another issue can be the process of getting things done under the AmEx umbrella -- projects and processes can plod along very slowly.
