Former Employee - Marketing in Brooklyn, NY
    Neutral Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at Barclays Center full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    > Location - not a bad alternative to those who want to avoid Manhattan > Staff is large enough to have people dedicated to specific tasks so not one person has to do everything. For example, there is someone to do social, another person/people who oversee emails, etc. > Hours are long - expected sports & entertainment - but they do recognize the extra effort by providing comp time.

    Cons

    > High turnover or the other end of the spectrum - "lifers." As far as the former, it can be hard to form a long-term team. > Low salaries, also typical of the industry (i.e. you should be honored to work here) > Very clique-y, and some higher level people are extremely demanding and look down on junior level team members. Of course, every company has a hierarchy but some people take advantage of their senior positions and toss their weight around.

Former Employee - Uniform Room Specialist in Brooklyn, NY
    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at Barclays Center part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good people to work with, team driven, great supervisor, its an alright part time job if you have another job or are in school.

    Cons

Management does not care for the uniform room staff, Management makes schedule conflicts after saying they will work with you if you have another job or school, Management makes it clear that you are replaceable, Management does not know what goes on in the uniform room when it comes to almost anything. Human Resource Department will take the word of management every time over their part time employees unless it's something like sexual harassment or something egregious that they have to follow up on. Management hires more people for this position then needed in order to give them less hours and frustrate employees into quitting on their own. They add responsibilities every year but do not add incentives or pay increases as more responsibilities get added, This position also does not have a union and management prefers it that way. Management depends on uniform room staff to do the jobs of management and security as they depend on uniform room staff to not give uniforms to other employees that are late yet they still somehow get into the building and to the uniform room thus creating problems for the uniform room staff by creating a toxic work environment. Management pays a laundry cleaning plant to get soiled uniforms cleaned yet they use supervisors and staff on the clock to clean uniform items in private washing machines and dryers used for other departments such as house cleaning in order to save money on their budget which is not part of the responsibilities of a uniform room specialists. This creates conflict within the team and again creates toxicity between each other.
