Disappointing - Engineering Beamery Employee Review

Pros

- You get to work with smart, hardworking people - If you perform well, you are given as much autonomy and responsibility as you want

Cons

- People are over-worked and burnt out, we don't get the breathing space or time to do our best work. - We're told that there's "no resource" to hire people (especially during COVID). But new exec/strategic hires have been made every couple of weeks. More people at the top making decisions, but not enough people to actually execute them. - No formal development or training plans. Promotions and bonuses are at management's discretion. All bonuses were cut by 50% in the last review cycle, due to unexpected costs of moving to a new office. - Unfortunately, we don't take pride in the product. No one at Beamery actually uses Beamery for hiring purposes. We focus on adding more and more features to win new customers, rather than creating a great end-to-end product. - Retention is alarmingly low, 20 - 25% of people left in 2019 and 2020.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide your feedback. I am compelled to respond to your statements as several of your points are untrue. There is no direct link between office costs and bonus attainment levels. The Beamery recruitment team, along with many other teams, use and champion our product. It appears that we have not made this sufficiently clear, and so for this I can only apologize and endeavor to do better. As a current employee, I would encourage you to be proactive, ask more questions and offer solutions to your peers, management and to leadership. This is how we can continue to improve and build a great company. I am disappointed that you felt compelled to post misinformation rather than engaging in a discussion and helping to address any gaps. I assure you that employee retention is a top priority for me as CEO, and I am always open to feedback on how I or Beamery can become even better.

Product is great and the people are great.

Zero work-life balance and unrealistic expectations.
