Pros

The international environment and the people. The work may be fascinating when working in engineering and physics.

Cons

Nearly all types of contracts are short to mid term (up to 5 years), which makes pursuing a career and retaining talent pretty difficult. Also, this makes the people less involved in the work, as it usually comes from the person before. It's a chaotic place, much too often based on political relationships and "knowing the right people". Management is generally bad or non-existent.

Pros

The employment process is very smooth and supportive. The technical team interviewed me for technical skills, and the HR is very supportive and helpful. Especially I haven't been employed by CERN previously, so I have a lot of questions. The employment team is very helpful and answered all my questions patiently. Also I like the job and my work very much.

Cons

Maybe the primary communication method could be email instead of phone calls? I sometimes miss phone calls, but will check every email.
