I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Support for non-business related matters (mental health, company benefits, sports network, promotion of inclusivity) People are generally well mannered Recent modernisation of the main building Flexible working initiatives

    Cons

Matrix organisation which leads to many inefficiencies Risk aversion to holding people to account for substandard work (for fear of upsetting some resources who may leave - a completely false economy) Some level of tolerance to nepotism You are awarded what management think they can get away with not what you're worth in the market place. Penny wise pound foolish mentality of senior management

    Advice to Management

Empowerment of your middle management staff will achieve better results. As a manager myself, I do not get to see my team's pay or bonuses, and therefore I do not get to decide who is rewarded fairly although I do their appraisals.
