Pros

Lots of responsibility for young professionals. Travel opportunities can vary but you can expect 1-3 trips per year. One of the best in the business for USAID contracting and project implementation, very ethics focused, lots of systems and policies in place to provide guidelines for operating in complex environments with changing client demands.

Cons

Work at the associate/PM level can at times be very administrative and less about the technical aspects of the work. PMs often find themselves at a professional plateau after a year or two and need to devise ways to continue to grow. At times the systems and approvals can seem bureaucratic, although much of that stems from our client.

Pros

Strong culture of integrity. Absolutely spectacular colleagues. Super interesting work.

Cons

Basically denuded of staff due to USAID cuts. Upper management had become obsessed with performance against metrics that were poorly fit to the business, and were focused entirely on how they might meet those metrics this week, without looking ahead to how to make structural improvements over the longer term.
