I have been working at Dennis Publishing full-time for less than a year
Pros
There is a lot to love about this company:
- Great pay -- really top-notch
- Great work/life balance
- Work remotely
- Kind bosses who are quick to compliment a good job
- Lots of recognition
- Trusting of employees of do what they need to get the job done
- Affordable insurance (even a great HDHP w/ an HSA)
- High bonus potential (10%)
- Loads of holidays off and over a week off for Xmas/New Years
- 15 vacation days 2 personal days and 10 sick days to start
- Lots of innovation (at least on the side I work on)
- Cross-department collaboration is great
- CEO is very open and communicates company happenings regularly
Cons
There's not much to say, but I will add a few small things:
- Tech is a little antiquated
- CMS needs scrapped for something newer and more streamlined
- Limited development resources can cause bottlenecks
- Communication is light at some times
- 1% 401(k) match is below average
I worked at Dennis Publishing full-time for more than a year
Pros
A small and understaffed business meant lots of opportunity to gain experience
Cons
Lousy editorial product (the week). Virtually everyone was a contracted employee, so there was little to no office morale. The office was dark and littered with half empty boxes in a crummy building. People were generally unhappy. The brightest part of the week seemed to be when they rolled out the bar cart on fridays, as if drinking off-brand vodka at 2pm was some special treat.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. As you point out in your review you were employed by Dennis US which is run as a smaller, entirely separate company to the UK, with its own management team, based in New York.
I'm obviously disappointed that you didn't find the experience a rewarding one but feel I can't comment further as I don't speak for our US organisation. I will, however, refer your review to John Lagana (the US CEO) so that he can see your feedback and respond accordingly.
