Pros

Great place to destroy your career and suck the life out of you, or you're close to retirement and have mastered the art of doing very little as possible whilst looking busy and need to boost your pension. Nice views of the Thames.

Cons

There is a stress epidemic, but people won't admit they're stressed and just go off sick and no one seems to be able to do much about it. There is an extreme amount of entitled people who are there solely to protect their positions and their mini empires of inefficient and unproductive staff. Literally, have no clue what their job is other than to float from meeting to meeting and make useless statements or state the obvious. You rarely see these people generate any deliverables. The performance management process is a farce, as is the internal recruitment process. There's no point in applying for a position internally as it's already been given to the biggest boot licker or some aggrieved person who isn't qualified for the role but believes they deserve it. But they have to follow procedures and advertise it anyway. Management is populated with dinosaurs that wouldn't know what good looked like if it hit them in the face. The bank is trying to change but failing at it extremely well and does nothing about it at the same time. In a nutshell, it's extremely toxic and bureaucratic.

Pros

International exposure to emerging market interesting and talented junior colleagues

Cons

- Managers do not care about juniors career progression and some do not have integrity - Work is repetitive once you understand it and lacks challenges, which means many works are highly AI replaceable - The quality of mid-management really varies, Some talented mid senior people are quiet while mediocre take the place. - Reacts slow to market and some red tapes - Not a resourceful bank in terms of reputation and benefits
