I have been working at Evi Technologies

    Pros

A wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon with all the great benefits this brings. Very interesting, cutting-edge technology and projects. Great people and team working. Very social with lots of events, nights out and regularly down the pub at lunchtimes. Great location in central Cambridge close to shops, restaurants and pubs.

    Cons

Company is growing and changing (due to Amazon buy out) hence some changes in technology and projects. This has lead to some challenges but overall is a positive. Peer pressure to go to the Kohinoor.

I worked at Evi Technologies full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    1. Close to MSFT building, if you get hired there by mistake, you can go interview with them.

    Cons

    1. Horrible treatment of their employees, Amazon monitors everything. 2. 24/7 on call responsibilities (unpaid of course) which they don't tell you about up front. Possibly illegal. 3. Management just uses their 'Amazon principles' to justify any crappy decision they make. Speaking up to the management and voicing your own opinion is a no-no, you better conform! 4. Thanks to their 'Be frugal' principle, everything is cheap and crappy 5. Engineers are disposable 6. Toxic backstabbing / political culture. Engineers aren't rewarded for the work they perform, but rather for politicking. People who thrive in such an environment are probably sociopaths. If you, like me, thought that Amazon only threats their warehouse employees badly, you are sadly mistaken. Don't work here, even if you are desperate :-)
