Pros
- Good competitive salary - Very interesting projects focusing on how to deliver medicine faster to patients and educate people, doctors and clinical facilities. - Helping people to be healthy - as a pharmaceutical company they spent billions of dollars on discovering new ways to improve peoples lives (once you hear the story of some people life has changed - HIV positive patients - you realise that it is about people and that your actions - even is tiny - contribute to the better outcome - Outstanding people - no matter if its IT, Lawyers, Regulators, Customer Service, Site Managers, Directors everyone is very helpful and polite - Taking care of employees (a lot of beneficial programs, meetings with experts, access to wellbeing platforms) - The more you work here the more you realise that there are a lot untrue negative myths about Big Pharma - It's because the more you learn the more you understand how it all works. - Bonuses and internal prices are very good - They take care of people (even if there were layoffs people got support and some security from the company)
Cons
- Since your contribution is tiny the company outcome relies heavily on everyones work as also on external decisions (like politicians of given countires who decide not to support WHO anymore) - Even if it is a worldwide organisation the focus are still the strongest markets - For IT everything is switching towards one big CRM supplier which is not good as the whole company will rely on that company - As for all big companies its always performance and stock price that matter so expect budget cuts - I was hired during Covid time where I had to be in the office once per week, then it changed to 2 days a week and it is said to be more (something that has not been communicated to me while I have been hired) - Its difficult to get a bigger pay raise or even a promotion without internal recruitment (what you negotiate at the beginning will be with you) - The negative / positive perspective depends on the manager you will have (I had 3, one was superb, the other one was good, the last one did not know how to work with people)
