I worked at George Weston Bakeries full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Excellent management-Management know the job well (mostly promoted from the bakery floor), The plant manager at the place I worked started out moving pans between conveyor belts as a teenager. Easily the best manager I've ever had. The rest of the management both provided the necessary support to get the job done and made sure that employees were safe reasonably well cared for. -Union job so the pay was pretty reasonable...

    Cons

-The work is boring and fairly physical. -shift work, at first you will likely do a lot of night shifts -Your co-workers will be a bit of a mixed lot as the hiring requirement is basically warm, breathing and able to follow simple instructions.

I worked at George Weston Bakeries for less than a year

    Pros

My team was incredibly supportive. Always spending time to ensure I was getting as much out of my internship as they were. Continuously worked to develop me and my knowledge

    Cons

Not many cons for the company. Sometimes flexibility was lackluster. There was no set spot for me as an intern. Constantly being bounced around from desk to desk could make you feel unvalued

    Advice to Management

Keep interns involved in as much as possible! We can't learn and develop if we aren't provided the opportunity
