Pros

Glassdoor is a great company. I enjoy working with my peers and really like our CEO. The mission of the company is unique and I believe in it. Unlimited vacation and opportunities to work from home make it easy to want to put my all into the job.

Cons

The problem I have with working here on the product team is how the product team is run. It is still run like we are a small startup. I am micromanaged and this makes it almost impossible to contribute my own ideas and solutions. There is a need to better build and mentor individuals. I am most commonly told what to do and when I try to bring my own approach I am shut down and made to feel stupid. I am rarely provided direction or constructive criticism for how to improve my ideas. It is mostly about how I need to do a better job of making sure other's ideas and solutions are implemented. Ego often gets in the way of real collaboration and partnership. I want to stay at Glassdoor because I think this is a great company, but I don't know how much longer I can work in this environment. I was hired into the company under the impression that I would be able to contribute significantly to the product and grow my career. As it stands currently, I am not growing and it is incredibly difficult to contribute and feel good about the work I am doing. It's unfortunate that the product team runs like this and it is actually contrary to the culture that the company professes to engender. Think twice about joining the product team unless you like being told what to do and how to do it. If you value your experience and expertise as a product person, there are many other companies in the Bay Area that know how to treat their employees like professional adults.

Thank you for your feedback. As you know, our product organization has scaled dramatically in the last several years, and I acknowledge that we have work to do here, particularly on some teams. We announced recently the search for a CPO / Chief Product Officer, and creating more empowered, more aligned teams will be her or his top job. That said, we have amazing talent in our product organization, and I am blown away by the creativity, passion, and drive that exists on this team. I'd really appreciate it if you could confidentially share more details about your experience with me first-hand. As CEO, this is precisely the kind of feedback that I need as I craft our organization for scale. Feel free to email me, or setup time to meet me. Thank you - robert

Pros

The benefits and culture were probably the best I've ever had. Even better than the benefits were the people I worked with. I enjoyed coming into work and doing my job and really stood behind the company tag line of helping people find jobs they love.

Cons

During covid things started getting bad. Like many other companies layoffs came around and how the company handled those were terrible. You show up one day and next thing you know you lose access and cryptic email and then your'e gone. This happened again in 2025. They brought in person whose job it was to basically get people to leave. They didn't care about the content on the site, or any of the efforts in place to promote integrity and transparency and instead just wanted to shove AI down everyone's throat. What's sad is that Glassdoor was once a great company that I was proud to say I worked for. Now it's just like everywhere else, AI, AI, AI and trying to get people to quit before the next round of layoffs.
