Great payment model (based on London job market) with amazing benefits.
Designed around being a fully remote company, so the processes actually facilitate this.
Great colleagues who really care. There doesn't seem to be anyone "coasting," instead most people are passionate about their work and happy to help each other.
Emphasis from leadership on work-life balance; encouraged not to work beyond 40 hours.
Hotjar is actually true to its core values
Cons
The interview process is thorough and takes several weeks to a month.
- Employees and customers are treated with utmost respect and cared for
- Incredibly talented people from all over the world
- Completely work from home
- Competitive salary
- A good set of perks
Cons
- Not suitable for people who thrive in an office environment
Hello there, thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m deeply saddened and concerned to read these words. It’s certainly not consistent with feedback we commonly hear from those that leave Hotjar making it even more concerning.
If you are comfortable and able to reach out to me to provide more details I would be very grateful. We’ll investigate it promptly as well as keep you informed. For anyone external reading this please know that we take any and all concerns of this magnitude very seriously. One of our Core Values is to ‘Work with Respect’. For context, here’s additional information about the value:
Work with Respect encompasses three broad and related areas. Here they are with a bit more detail:
1. We are honest, tolerant, and inclusive - Honest is pretty straightforward, we don’t lie! Being tolerant involves respecting differing viewpoints (so long as they don’t negatively put others down). Inclusivity means we work together as one. We include one another and make each other feel welcome in what we do. In doing so we embrace the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives from other team members.
2. We work together absent of egos and political agendas - Big egos can create big problems. We are all human, we all screw up, we all have a tonne to learn. When inflated egos are in the mix this gets lost and it can unfairly affect others. The only agendas we like at Hotjar are meeting agendas. If someone is overtly engaging in activities, attitudes, or behaviors that are used to get or keep an advantage within the company in a way that harms the company or other team members, it is not okay.
3. Respect ourselves by balancing work with a healthy lifestyle - We’ve said many times that we believe 40 hours/week is enough. While it may be necessary to work extra hours during a crunch time it is not our expectation. Consistently working more hours won’t get you promoted or rewarded, in fact, we believe it degrades performance. Any team member who feels their role requires more than 40 hours/week should raise this as an issue with their lead.
We also have internal channels of communication available for our team to use to report sensitive matters, concerns about safety, unfair treatment, or anything that conflicts with this or our other values.
I’ll be honest, we’re not perfect. We do screw up from time to time and if that’s happened here we truly want to address this. I sincerely hope to connect with you.
