    I worked at J D Wetherspoon full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Working behind the bar can be fun. monthly bonus

    Cons

After progressing within less than a year from bar associate to shift manager things just went from bad to worse. The pub manager kept putting me on close shifts (end around 3am) then would expect me to come back at 6am (the same morning) and open the pub;these shifts were on the rota. After about 3 months of this happening I obviously grew sick of it and quit. This prompted the 'Pub Manager' (if you could call her that all she did was sit in the office all day; often found her sleeping in there) to on the spot accuse me of stealing in front of around 7 people even though my till had never been short and there was no missing stock. Obviously this was a massive accusation of which I knew I was innocent and so i asked for proof which is when she started stumbling over her words obviously nervous because she had none. Needless to say I walked out; she rang me about 2 days later and asked me to come back; surely you wouldn't ask someone you thought was stealing to come back would you?

I have been working at J D Wetherspoon

    Pros

Great work and co-workers. Challenging, but satisfying way to grow professionally . This job will stretch you! I enjoy the work but wait for the cons.

    Cons

Management lack of people skills. Although good business acumen, management treats employees like crap. No coaching skills at all.. many have moved on because of treatment.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at J D Wetherspoon for more than a year

    Pros

Gained friendships. Money off food on shift. You're always busy..

    Cons

Zero hours contract so one week I could earn an amazing amount and the next be so broke I can't afford transport to and from work. Taxis as I did a lot of late shifts. Management allow bullying to take place. Management are supposed to back you up if someone is drunk or rude etc.. but in my experience they haven't done this at all. Promised the world promotion wise and they gave someone else the job that was lined up for me. Made me do kitchen training when it wasn't needed or even noted down. Expect to be spoken to like rubbish from customers, staff members and management. Very long shifts if staff decide to not turn up or get drunk the night before (this happens ALOT)
