Nope. - Sales and Business Development Journal Technologies Employee Review

Pros

Flexible schedule-sometimes didn't even go in at all and no one noticed or cared. A lot of people work 5 hour days, with no reprimand. Travel was great, I got all the perks of credit cards and points, with full reimbursement from Journal. People are great. Anyone who wasn't a manager is incredible and fun to work with.

Cons

Management is delusional. They offer no training, instead saying 'find your own learning opportunities', but when you do, they shoot it down and say no. They invest no time in teaching the product or how to demo. The RFP process is a joke. Basically, the company vice president writes everything and refuses to hand off anything. Management micromanages, but does not teach staff or give them tools to do what needs to be done. And the CEO cut the 'entertainment' budget to nothing, which was the last scrap of team building and culture. Promotions and raises are non-existent, and no retirement plan at all (not even one you can contribute to. Employees have to go outside of Journal) is not okay.

Pros

1. Remote flexible work environment for many employees. 2. Competitive salary and benefits. 3. Compelling work. 4. Many engaging and approachable clients. 5. Many co-workers are intelligent and dedicated and helpful. 6. Strategic growth focused leadership. 7. Competitive product. 8. Focus on incremental continuous improvements. Small adjustments that are evaluated for their worth before adding more changes that helps limit chaos. 9. Evolving PMO. 10. HR onboarding was flawless and helped to learn about company policies and procedures.

Cons

1. Lack of camaraderie. Only a few co-workers have made the effort to welcome and connect. Quite a few co-workers focus on their work and are hard to relate with. Cliques exists. More efforts to be a more inclusive company is needed. 2. Contention between old ways and news ways of operating that has led to some in-fighting, confusion, and resistance. 3. Challenging and almost non-existent onboarding experience with PMO and immediate team. 4. Concern about heavy workloads that risk leading to burn-out. 5. Sales process needs to improve to ensure that hand-offs to delivery teams are smoother and that the clients are on the same page. 6. Lack of consistent recognition of employee’s efforts and contributions. 7. More training of process and procedures is needed. 8. Documentation can be improved across the board. 9. Lack of support from senior leadership and management. You need to be a self-starter and be comfortable with autonomy with little direction from co-workers and management. 10. Company is disconnected between departments. They operate in silos. Need more cross-functional training, knowledge sharing, and consistent processes.

Your feedback on camaraderie, PMO/team onboarding, cross-functional alignment, workload, and recognition is fair and aligns with areas we know we need to keep improving. We’re actively working on better handoffs, clearer processes, stronger documentation, and more connection across teams. We appreciate you highlighting our flexible work environment, compelling work, strong clients, and the efforts around onboarding and continuous improvement. Change takes time, but we’re committed to making it better. Thanks for the feedback!
