Pros

Wonderful team. The friendliest, ego-less colleagues you'll ever meet. People genuinely care about your welfare, and there's not a single jerk or knife to worry about. Everyone knows we're not working on the best games, but the work we do is the best. Because it's a small company, you get to know everyone, and there's a lot of opportunities to grow. Work-life balance is great. There's no crunch or weekend calls.

Cons

Kixeye is great. Stillfront is toxic. The company has been spiraling down ever since they were bought by Stillfront. A great team of creative, brilliant developers are being micromanaged to death by a parent company that thinks game development can be run by spreadsheets. We've had over 10 people quit in the first 7 months of this year, and the company has less than 80 people. Every single one of them has left because Stillfront has told us that we'll never make any new games going forward, only buying and reskinning older games. Kixeye can't even make counter-offers to employees because the salaries are so low. A junior designer at EA makes more than a senior designer at Kixeye. The Kixeye upper management team is great. Colin and Ryan are so much better and healthier leaders than we've ever had. But Stillfront blocks them every time they try to do anything good for the company, from trying to greenlight new projects, to hiring essential team members, or even giving us pay raises. We can't hire engineers or artists because Stillfront thinks we already have enough. We have literally 1 engineer working on one of our biggest games. If they're sick, we have no backup. We have one 3D artist. If they leave, nobody can backfill them. We've been begging for a year for support, and Stillfront keeps saying no. We even fired our entire marketing & PR team because Stillfront said we didn't need it. But how are you supposed to promote mobiles games without marketing & PR? Kixeye is a sinking ship. It doesn't have to go down, but it will, because Stillfront doesn't know how to run a good game studio. Just go look at their website and look over all of the studios they own that you've never heard of before.
