Pros

LRQA used to be an exemplary employer and a really good place to be, however, over time a lot of the good things disappeared. There used to be a good ‘family’ atmosphere, despite the size with all working together to beat the competition. That atmosphere has left the building. Top management seem to have forgotten the business’s most important asset, the employees who have invoiceable time and those who support them. Pay is always on time. Generally friendly people. Get to meet some fantastic clients, some on the forefront of technology. A different place most days, no boring office every day. Decent pension. Decent holidays, however, these need to be booked some months in advance.

Cons

In my opinion, appalling software, completely unfit for purpose and being ‘sticky taped together’ to try to make it work. Too much monitoring and measurement to enable and encourage micromanagement. Owned by venture capital, who appear not understand the business’s environment which leads to very significant pressure as they try to increase profitability (possibly beyond what is realistic for this type of business) Chaotic and ineffective planning system, with overworked planners. Inadequate car provision.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback and we are sorry to see you have left us after 9 years of service. We are glad to see that there were plenty of great parts when working for LRQA. Your advice to management is exactly right and we are doing many things to address the parts listed in your cons. We are undergoing a digital transformation and are very close to releasing some innovative software that will significantly improve the client and colleague experience, including improved planning. Micromanagement is not encouraged - this year we are focusing on the evolution of our culture. This includes empowering our people with high levels of accountability and a less parental approach. Our financial performance this year is strong and there are realistic plans for how the financial growth will be achieved. We are sorry to hear that you believe our car provision is inadequate. The car policy depends on the country, but as an example, in the UK we offer a handsome car allowance of £550 for eligible colleagues. There are so many positive things happening at LRQA and we've had several auditors return to us. We hope that after some of our improvements land, you decide to return to us too.

Pros

I come to work every day excited to work with an amazing set of colleagues, an impressive set of clients and brands, and I'm proud of the solutions we provide to our clients to help them manage their risks - from ESG, Responsible Sourcing, Cybersecurity, Food Safety, and QHSE just to name a few. Being part of the LRQA team means every employee has a voice, every idea is welcome, and collaboration is key. If you're a driven professional looking to make a difference, focused on delivering results, with high energy who is proactive, thrives while working at pace, and excited to work with an amazing team, LRQA is a great organization to work for.

Cons

Work-life balance is encouraged but can be a challenge because we have so much to achieve. Ultimately, it is up to each individual to set and stick to their working hours.
