Pros

Straight forward and easy work. Great GM at my store!

Cons

I was paid $1 above minimum wage in my state. Schedule was all over the place even as a part timer. I'd work eight days in a row mostly four hour shifts sometimes closing one day and opening the next day at 6AM. Then have no hours for three to four days in a row. Middle management in my store is very poor. Out of all the leads and ASMs(25ish), I'd say only a handful were competent. It's a job in a retail environment so you work with some nice people but also a lot of bitter retail lifers. Customers will always stink in any low end retail environment and this was no different. I was assaulted by a customer, but as it was my last day of my two weeks notice, only one ASM took it seriously and there was no follow up even though I filed a police report. PT benefits are a joke. They do not even cover once a year blood tests or x-rays. No ER or emergency coverage at all. Part of the reason I took this "not so great" retail job was for the benefits. So if thats why you need this job, I'd look somewhere else.

Pros

Good opportunity to learn about tools, DIY projects, and get experience in retail sales.

Cons

This particular store has toxic management style, he leads with tattle-tell fear mentality instead of collaborative and helpful training approach. He takes terrible advantage of his elderly employees. Female employees are expected to clean up after the men in the break rooms and after meetings. Upon hiring for part-time they will immediately schedule you for just under full time hours. due to being constantly short staffed. I also witness firsthand, managers hiding things from employes to, "teach then a lesson." It was very sad to see this especially in a small town that doesn't have many job opportunities to begin with. When I transferred from another Lowes, this one made me take a pay cut even though I had more skills than most of the employees in this store (glass cutter, pipe cutting, wood cutter, key machine, lifts, front loaders, etc.)
