very poor company to work for

    Pros

Tips. Discount on food at other pubs.

    Cons

As a company, Marston's expect you to live and breathe the business. The pay is shocking, for a manager being on only 20p more than a waitress is abysmal, especially when you do alot more for the company. AOMs have no idea how their pubs are run, no communication with their staff at all. All Marston's care about is hitting targets, and shaming you for when you don't. Would rather hire children so they don't have to fork out for wages but then get mad cause no one knows how to pour a beer or take an order. Overlooked by management, promised progression but never signed off. Threaten to quit if you want to be heard, they'll up their game for about a week then go back to ignoring you. Claim they care about mental health and wellbeing, they do not. Even If there is a number you can call.. They don't let you have a personal / private life. They make you feel obligated to come in on your day off cause someone's called in sick or not turned up, not so much as a thank you. Rotas change without notice. Worked to the bone with no reward. Staff turnover high as no one can work due to other commitments such as school. (They hire teenagers) Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed working with the people i did. Most of which would have the time of day for you. But as a company Marston's only care about one thing and it's definitely not their employees

We are alarmed to hear of your experiences, and we are really very sorry to hear that you were made to feel this way. Marston's are passionate about ensuring that each and every member of our teams are treated fairly, and with respect. I can assure you, we will be looking into this further, and would appreciate if there was any other specific feedback you were happy to share, that you could forward it to our dedicated account at contactus@raisethebar.co.uk. I will share your suggestion about working alongside the team mates in pubs, 'back to the floor' days, as we used to call them, is something we have done in the past. Thanks again for your time.
