- Still some wonderful, kind, talented people working here. - Work-life balance is mostly good. Minimal overtime. - Decent vacation policy with office closure over holidays. - Dog-friendly office.
Cons
- Poor decisions from leadership have led to mass layoffs. - Leadership team has become increasingly out of touch. Revolving door at leadership level means bosses are totally disconnected from the rest of the company. - Cagey, regressive salary policies. No transparency or accountability whatsoever. Everyone I know who has left the company has gone on to find better-paying work elsewhere. - Very little creative talent left. This company used to be known for design and innovation, but leadership and investors seem intent to chase acquisitions and milk value out of 2-3 products. You might work with some cool people here, but the work itself isn't interesting. - Business is 100% reliant on Shopify. A platform update or other directive from Shopify can derail projects for months at a time. Subtext here is that Shopify could cannibalize their business at a moment's notice, but no one in leadership seems willing to talk about it.
