I worked at Pret A Manger part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - free lunch -coffee - break - slightly higher than min wage

    Cons

    - long hours - dont get a minute to think - you are not seen as human - even when you are having a bad day you must smile - fake atmosphere Pret is not the worst place i have worked, but it is by far one of the most demanding places. You are constantly being told to smile ask every single customer about their day (when you have a queue of 20 others to get down as fast as you possibly can cos thats the... rules) There work plan just seems to constantly contradict its self, go fast every customer must be served in 60 seconds but also start a conversation with every customer, go stock the drinks , but also stay behind the till. They treat you like a smiling robot slave that has no life outside of pret.

    Advice to Management

Chill out your employees will want to work for you if you stop bossing them about and being rude to them. People have come in for a coffee and a sandwich, not a 5 star Michelin restaurant experience, if thats what your going for pay your staff better.
