Pros
Project HEAL is unquestionably the best nonprofit in their space. The team is passionate, and many are experts in their fields. Considering the turmoil within the field, Project HEAL could become the most influential organization if they are willing to expel the executives and BOD members that are stalling their progress.
Cons
Like any nonprofit, resources are limited. Questionable relations between executive leadership, BOD members, and influencers in the field have allowed a habit of nepotism to snowball into a culture of unchecked executive power. The internal politics of the organization were once admirably progressive but have devolved into a vanity project for executive leadership. Based on my experience and the experiences of my co-workers, the feeling of stability and consistency at Project HEAL has all but evaporated. The evaluation of one's performance is not graded on a consistent scale. Rather it is based on the your perceived allegiance and loyalty to executive leadership.
